Three Important Things I Learned As A WA Newbie
Here are a couple of things I learned the hard way during my first several months as a Wealthy Affiliate member. I'd like to share these with other Newbies in hopes that they can avoid the same pitfalls.
1. Do Not Trust Autosave! - If you are interrupted or need to walk away while writing a blog post, be sure to hit "Save" regardless of the autosave message. I recently spent the better part of a day writing a blog post. Assuming it had been autosaved, I went to look for a header picture, came back and my whole entire post was gone. It had not been saved to drafts. So remember, no matter what interruptions you have hit "Save" before doing anything else.
2. Do Not Try To Write The Perfect Post - If you spend too much time outlining, researching, second-guessing yourself and trying to perfect your post, you may never get around to actually posting it. If you do finish the post you will have wasted much valuable time. I found this to be the case during my first several months as a WA member. I was so concerned with writing the perfect post, that I became a ball of stress and therefore accomplished very little. Don't get me wrong, it's important to have notes and information relevant to your article because this gives you a framework from which to build upon. Just jump in with both feet and let your creative juices flow. Start typing your ideas and you can change or edit as you go.
3. Do Not Procrastinate "Just Do It" - Long before Nike began using this as their slogan, this was my go-to catch phrase. It's easy to fall into the trap of the "I'll do it tomorrow" mentality, and if left unchecked, it's a slippery slope to failure. Set aside a reasonable amount of time each day to accomplish at least one thing that will advance your business in the right direction. Don't let anything or anyone deter you from getting that one task done. If you adhere to the minimum goal of getting at least one thing done per day on your website, you will be on your way to success.
So in summary, Before the sun sets, start writing, never give up and for goodness’ sake, hit that "save" button.
