When I type in my website link into a search bar (not Google), it doesn't locate my website. Why is this? I have one published post. I can access my website from my dashboard,
Hi, Katie.
Your site must first get indexed by Google. That usually takes a few days.
Google doesn't know about your site. The crawlers (software that Google use to find new websites) runs around on the web looking for new websites and content. When they find new info, it gets indexed on the Google servers.
Once that is done you will be able to type in your website URL and it will show up. You will be notified once your site got indexed.
Hopes that this makes sense.

are you asking about the search bar at the top of WA? That will only show you posts that are made inside of the Wealthy Affiliate platform.
Your website is from site rubix, and won't come up in a search.
Ip address not found when looking for my website?

If it is a search engine that you used, it must probably be that your website hasn't been indexed. It takes time . Although with .com (.net, .org) domains, your site gets indexed in some minutes.
However, if you used a different search bar, it won't show your website.
