Crazy About Canva
I have a tendency to get excited about a new thing, and then I spend a lot of time on it for a while (until I find another new thing). Now that new thing is Canva. The first thing I did on Canva, I made a logo for my website. It was really easy.
I was tempted to make it really fancy, but I watched Jay´s Canva training video, and he said it´s better keep the logo simple. So I did. I used just a black silhouette of a unicorn instead of a really detailed unicorn picture.
I´ll show you my website logo, so you can say what you think:
Next, I started making info graphics. I probably spent far too much time making info graphics for just one post. I changed the design several times. I wanted to make the info graphics cute, but not too complicated. I did go too much into details, and got a little too excited about the cute unicorn pictures in Canva.
I guess it´s part of the learning process, when you start new things. You need to maybe fail a few times until you find what works best.
It´s important to use your logo´s base color palette in your info graphics. That is branding. As you can see, in my logo I have light purple, pink, black and white. Now I use the same colors in my info graphics too.
It is a good idea to make a logo for your website first, before you start making info graphics. That way you get your base color palette based on which colors you use in your logo.
To get exactly the same colors you have in your logo, you can save the color codes of the colors of your logo. Then, you can search with the color code to find the exact color again, and use it in all your graphics.

I upgraded because its that good. You can do so much on there and love how versitile it is. Its a really good tool!

Do you know how Canvas compares to Photoshop?
Thanks. :) Photoshop is for editing photos, but I don't know if there are set up elements and pictures to use like in Canva. Canva is easier to use too. And there are readily available models for making different kinds of graphics. And loads of pictures you can use for your graphics.
Thanks for all this information. I generally use Affinity for my graphics, but it does take a while to learn.
I will take a look at Canva and see if I can speed my time up a bit.

Canva is really easy, even I was able to use it in no time, and I have no experience with graphic design tools. Ok, I did have a couple of problems with Canva, but overall using it is quite smooth.

Canva is great, I’ve used it a few times not in much detail just playing around. Didn’t realise their was video training here tho so thanks for sharing that.

I love Canva too! I want to spend more time with it. I feel that I made my logo too quickly by using the preset options, but it's simple and works fine. I've used Canva to make a few stories for Instagram too. I love your idea about a unicorn site- good thinking about the low competition there too. My site is about parenting and encouraging learning in children and I feel there's way too much competition for me. Good luck with the rest of your site!
Thank you! I wish you good luck too. The good thing is, you can always make a new logo, if you don't like the old one. :) At least if your site is not very old yet. If you feel like there´s too much competition, you could try narrowing down your niche a bit.
