This Diabetes Niche research is inspired by this comment:

"I'm doing my website on the Diabetes and the lifestyle, but I am having trouble with what to promote and what to review as far as products. There are so many products to choose from, I don't have a list yet for emails, or an audience yet as I am still publishing content. Any advice?" – Sheryl

When we start affiliate marketing and begin creating our first affiliate website, it's easy to go straight after the money right away.

And this is valid.

Because, after all, we usually decide to do affiliate marketing so we can make money at it, right?

For affiliate marketing to work today, it's best practice to start with helping people solve problems they want to be solved.

Focus on helping those people. Make that your first priority.

The more you learn about those people and the multiple problems they face, the more affiliate solutions will become more obvious.

And then you will have some trust built up from those people to recommend solutions to them.

There are 100's to 1000's of affiliate solutions to problems we all have today. Your niche is no different.

So to help put this in perspective, here's how I would start researching the Diabetes niche.

To help me understand:

  • what problems I may want to target
  • what content I would write about to help those problems
  • what affiliate products would I promote as solutions to those problems

IMPORTANT NOTE: I'm not a diabetes expert. Nor am I in the diabetes niche. I personally chose the Affiliate Marketing niche. I thought affiliate marketing was a good sub-niche, but it is still very competitive, which takes time to figure out. (Many people quit and give up before that happens.) I had to learn how to "niche down" and find smaller, less competitive, easier for beginners and new affiliate websites micro niches to start out with because I had no authority or trust with anyone or Google. I had to earn that by learning about my target audience. And creating super helpful content for them!

I'm using my learnings to show you how I would apply my knowledge learned for the diabetes niche.

Just know that this would be the start of the research process, not the end.

Important Warnings About the Diabetes Niche

In the Diabetes Niche, be advised you are affecting people’s health.

The Diabetes Niche is not a good niche to choose just to make affiliate commissions.

(You will have a hard time making affiliate marketing working for this way.)

If you decide to go into the diabetes niche, ideally, you should understand this topic well before you recommend solutions for it because your recommendations can affect people’s health.

Your recommendations can help people and even harm them. So take this niche seriously.

Your personal story with diabetes or having experience with it in some form will help people trust your recommendations.

You may also want to partner with certified health specialists to ensure your content is accurate. This will also help give your content more authority.

Otherwise, you're just like every other affiliate in the diabetes niche, only focused on making affiliate commissions.

Consumers will see right through your intentions, and your affiliate journey will likely not go well.

Health and Fitness Claims Protection by the FTC

If you live in the United States, respect the rules of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC is a national consumer protection agency that protects buyers from fraud and deception. They specifically work to prevent false claims made by products and advertising to encourage people to buy.

You would want to make sure the products you recommend do not promote any products that provide false claims. Otherwise, you could get in trouble with the FTC and potentially face fines and serious legal implications.

Diabetes Niche Pros & Cons

Pros

It's a huge niche. Diabetes is searched for 290,321 times a month! (Per Jaaxy.)

Many people are affected by diabetes.

Many more people are scared of becoming diabetic.

Last but not least, it's an evergreen niche.

Cons

The Diabetes niche is highly competitive.

You will need to target smaller diabetes micro-niches.

You must always check your work against the FTC requirements if your content is consumed by US citizens.

Not for me, but what a great niche. I am sure it will go well for you, competition or not.
Stephen

Not for me either :) I just did this to as an example for another member here choosing the diabetes niche.

Ahhh, my speed reading will have to slow down. Lol.

Wow, Kim, a nicely laid-out and broken down postr about this potential niche. You are right, we should always focus on helping the customer FIRST, after that, everything else will fall into place, my friend!

Jeff

Yes, you said it well! Everything falls into place when we start with helping customers first. But I realize we don't always know that in the beginning.

Thanks, Kim! No we don't always know that, at first!

Jeff

Thank you Kim that was very beneficial for anyone thinking of having a diabetes niche website.

There is a lot to cover just in the microniche as you stated and more that can be searched for including children with diabetes along with effects for heart attack victims as well.

When had my heart attack back in 2008 it was at the hospital as I was heading for surgery found I had diabetes and didn't even know about it.

In fact, on my way to surgery I was conscious and arguing with one of the assisting doctors who keep telling me I had diabetes I thought to myself are you a moron I just had a heart attack.

Later I found I did have diabetes and he notices that because I had some skin tags on my neck another topic that can be mentioned with the other already stated.

So once more Kim thank you have saved this.

Andre

Yes, Andre! I'm sorry to hear about your heart attack and personal experience with diabetes. (But I did laugh at you arguing with the doctor, LOL!) Thank you for sharing your expertise on this niche. I love your additional micro niche examples: children with diabetes, diabetes and heart attacks, signs of diabetes, etc. Very helpful here!

Most welcome Kim, yea I was thinking did this doctor join the wrong group felt he was a wacko talking about diabetes when I just had a heart attack.

In the end, turns out he was very observant and was correct so in fact, I am grateful to him.

He will turn out to be a good doctor I am sure.

But glad there are other ideas added here

Enjoy your day and week ahead Kim
Thank you

Adnre

Great post!!!

Thanks for the useful
instructions and information.
You have put in the effort and time to share a niche approach with us.

Thanks a lot for sharing with us👍

Best regards🖐️

You bet! Glad this is helpful and shows you how to break a niche down. Do this for every niche, and you'll likely find plenty of opportunities.

This is well-researched about diabetes, as I am a diabetic as well and really have to search the internet for the right foods that will keep my sugar low as I can't afford to see a licensed dietitian every month. . Although I have come across some incorrect information and always ask my doctor before just listening to bloggers. Whoever writes about diabetes needs to make their readers aware of asking their doctor before trying anything they recommend.

Also, from my experience, if you are a type 2 diabetic, I recommend apple cider vinegar gummies. When you take the apple cider vinegar gummies, they help keep your A1C level where it needs to be, along with helping with neuropathy in your legs with daily exercise. The liquid vinegar did not suit me well. After taking apple cedar vinegar gummies, I am no longer on insulin and metformin. Even though I am still under the doctor's supervision every month, I am pleased that I no longer have to take insulin shots every night and metformin twice a day.

What we eat and our activity play a role in healthy A1C levels as well.

Thank you for your expertise here Jannette! I'm glad to hear you care for yourself and have figured out what works for you. And fantastic tips! Thank you very much for sharing here!

1. Encourage readers to check with their doctor first. This should be a mandatory disclaimer on each page.
2. For affiliates in the diabetes niche, leverage doctors and health professionals for your content to help it be more accurate.
3. Apple cider vinegar gummies as a potential product recommendation to help control A1C levels.

Very helpful for this post!
