You may think all you have to do is chose a great keyword, write an article and KAPOW! you rank on page 1 of Google but it is more complex than that.

The secret to the game is building a web of content around a cornerstone topic so that Google see's you as the Authority on that subject.

I will take travel blogging as an example. Say you wrote a post about travel to Rome, your cornerstone topic may be Rome Travel Blog but then you need to find hundreds of longtail keywords that support that subject and write posts that all connect to each other and connect to the cornerstone subject.

This will build the web of information that dominates the web. If you write this way you will own your topic eventually because hardly anybody does this.

Find as Many Long tail Keywords as You can!

Use Jaxxy to find as many great keywords that compliment your topic, so for Rome they would be;

1. How to get to Rome from the airport
2. Where to stay in Rome with a family
3. Top things to visit in Rome
4. Best cafes in Rome with children
5. Best bars to visit in Rome
6. Best tours in Rome
7. What food to eat in Rome
8. How to travel around Rome for cheap
9. 10 Best restaurants to eat at in Rome
10. Dangers in Rome to Avoid
11. Scams in Rome to Avoid
12. What to pack for Rome in Winter/Summer
13. Money in Rome
14. Top language tips for Rome
15. What to do if you get in trouble in Rome as a tourist
16. How to rent a bike in Rome
17. Visas for Italy Rome
18. Best Ice cream in Rome
19. Visiting the churches in Rome
20. Best museum to go to for free in Rome
21. ETC, ETC

Do this properly and make sure it is great long detailed content that answers every question the user will have and you will explode!

It won't happen overnight, but plant those seeds and keep creating content like this and you will take over the internet.

Have fun with it, this is a game and a long game so don't expect it to work in 2 weeks or even a month, Google will take time to move you through the ranks.
