Great question and great answer

You can share any content from WA with your affiliate link, but I shorten them with pretty links. i also prefer sharing a post using a social plugin.

Except Jays Live Events which are available for premium members only.

Calling techies again, please :)

Both Google and Bing can verify my site but won't index it. If I right click> inspect on my site, I can see the code:

<meta

Just a note for anybody who was wonderin' about the 'noindex' code stuck in the header. I deactivated Rank Math and the pesky code vanished. (Reactivated, just to check, and it reappeared). Have since moved SEO Press Pro and that is working well.

Hey all, I appreciate your help, I clearly don't understand how this help page works. I do not use WP to develop my site. I specifically chose the 'development and coding' help "room" because this is not about "writing content" or "daily motivation", neither is it meta description you write yourself. I typed the code, a techy person will understand what it is and how to get rid of it. Thanks.

You have to type in the meta description yourself. Also it isn’t a tech issue it’s a lack of content issue. Tech issues should be asked at site support

Excuse me?? I'm really confused by why you think you know this. That's not the problem at all!

Great question

The no index text is in in your all in one set. Click on that in your back office. Once you have the all in one set open, scroll until you find the no index text. Delete the text, then scroll down and update changes. The same thing happened to me.

My all in one set? I am not using WA's platform.

Sorry I was not aware of that. And I have no answer for you. Sorry

I have been struggling with the image quality of products in my shop for weeks. I've tried to contact Awin but received one hopeful response then nothing!

I use the Da

Kerry and I have spoken repeatedly about this, plus an Awin UK team member assisted.

They did? I have received no assistance and no response to my email.

All the affiliate networks are different. They can be hard to use. There are tutorials for some of them on youtube

Hi Kerry,

We have Jeannine who is responsible for the Awin and ShareASale listings in the WA Affiliate Programs directory. I think she'll be able to help you.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/jeanninec

No

You need to start by analyzing the data-feed. Extract the image URLs from the feed manually, and check what size they are displaying by accessing them directly.

If they're all different sizes, you know the issue lies with the feed.

If they're not, you know that the issue either lies with the importer or an image compression plugin on your website.

Hi Dale

They are all different sizes. It's a standard Awin Datafeed used world-over. It has to be my settings or the world would be complaining!

The images look shocking and I have no idea how to fix them!

I don't understand how the image sizing works. I have some images which were sent to me by a supplier, they are 2000x2000 px (52.92cm) and look perfect. Small but whole product view image in the main shop grid view and good size in the single product view.

Awin's Datafeed images are (one example) 578x900 px and fill the screen in the single image view and only show the (grainy) label in the shop landing grid view.

I know images that are too small for the container will expand to fit it, and look grainy. I also don't understand how/why the single product image expands to screen-size and doesn't stay contained. I use Elementor.

I have just joined a different affiliate programme and will see if their images are better. Very keen to dump Awin due to seriously bad customer service and zero assistance!

I'm perplexed!

I don't have an image compression plugin.

Thanks for your time, I'm really losing my cool here :)

Oh, I've tried importing the images manually into my media file and not using the import plugin. Makes no diffs. Besides, that negates the point of the Datafeed.

Quoting your post:

"They are all different sizes. It's a standard Awin Datafeed used world-over. It has to be my settings or the world would be complaining! "

So, the images provided to you, when opened directly from the datafeed are different sizes?

In that case, the problem lies with the datafeed as mentioned in my first post.

However, you also then mention that it has to be your settings. Why would you think it's your settings, if all of the images are different sizes in the datafeed?

Because it's a global datafeed. Surely I can't be the only person in the world struggling with it?

It doesn't matter if it's global or not. You must first work to identify where the issue lies.

It's pointless trying to fix something without knowing what the problem is.

Follow my steps above, determine if its the datafeed or your WP site. It's easy enough to do... All you need to do is manually go to the image URLs in the datafeed and check the sizes.

Hi Dale, I did. Thank you. You helped me tremendously!

After weeks of struggling and changing my settings I see it's not my settings but a datafile of higgeldy piggeldy sized images! What an incorrigible waste of time!

I've dropped Awin and busy uploading from Paid on Results. Their images are square and perfect.

Thank you!!

Haha, I thought as much.

It may simply be that you've selected the wrong image in the feed that you've created at Awin.

You can select from a variety such as merchant_image_url / merchant_thumb_url / large_image / alternate_image / aw_thumb_url / alternate_image_two / alternate_image_three / alternate_image_four

You might need "large_image", for example.

I have tried them all. Seriously. Every image and every setting! The problem really is what you said, they are all different sizes. If they were even I could adjust my container settings but what suits one does not suit the other 100!

I'm like a rottweiler when I have a problem though, it's a character flaw! I won't let go until I get to the bottom of it. I could have saved myself weeks if I'd just given up and gone over to Paid on Results earlier!

Thank you!

No that's far too archaic! Not a 2020 solution at all. Completely defeats the point of a datafeed. I'm looking for a real solution, not a resignation.

As long as they’re all doing something it shouldn’t be too bad

Hi Kerry, I use 7 plugins, but I just read Hackerist's last comment where he states he is using 20 plugins and maintaining great mobile and desktop site speeds. Just wondering if these are paid for plugins. I use Updraft Plus - backup/restore, but I de-activate it after I have done my back up, vice versa. Rank Math SEO and the Astra theme I use also.
You say you can not get away with less than the plugins you are using. Do you use a social media plugin as I did not see one, or does it come with one of the plugins you are using. I am asking because some do have the cookie consent included.
I also see keishalina has given you some suggestions.
There are 5 plugins I would de-activate, but if 20 plugins can be used without comprimising site speed (Hackerist), it is something that needs to be investigated.

All the best,
Michael

I use Elementor and WooCommerce, lots of images and adding daily. I tried Smush Pro but that made no diffs whatsoever.

Hi Kerry, from what I have read Smush Pro is prefered to the Kraken plugin which is included in WordPress 5.5.1. Images do slow down site speed but if they are accurately compressed they should be OK. What are you using to compress your images. If you don't mind, PM me your URL. What are your site speeds.

Michael

Hi Michael! No premium plugins on my blog.

That is awesome Tom. Those speeds are great with the number of plugins you got.

Michael

Which 5?

No, incorrect information. Smush is most definitely not a one-theme-product.

I have PM'd you. Thank you.

Yep, thanks Michael!

hey hi Kerry ... fabulous question and yes, it's vital to find a solution ....

I like what Tom (Hackerist) has listed as an effective means to take action and to help diagnose what is absolutely 'essential' versus 'nice to have' ... granted, who ever said this was easy?! ....

and surely, you may have heard Jay's (magistudios) practical counsel on testing things out on a 'test site' or 'sandbox' to know what the effects might be ....

hope it all works out for you ... :)

plus, one other thing, pretty basic, re: site speed, and if your website is hosted on WA, hopefully you've had a chance to check your SiteSpeed and toggled it on to EXtreme ...as there's two sitespeeds available here.... Accelerated and Extreme....

No it's not hosted on WA. I have done that and I do have the plugins that work best, for what they do. It's the sheer volume that I need, that perplexes me!

1) It’s your plugins' quality rather than the number of them.
2) Check out all the plugins, one by one, to see if you really need any of those plugins.
Do this:
3) Check the current speed of your site:

https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

4) Deactivate all the plugins
5) Reinstall them one by one
6) Delete the plugin that slows down your site
7) Replace the slow plugin by a faster plugin
8) Check your site speed again

Hope this helps,
Tom
