Staying Focused and Getting Unstuck

So, first off a huge thanks to all the responses, support and advice I have gotten. I really appreciate it. One of my 'things' I need to work on in life is to keep organized, keep it simple and of course, find my niche...all things that are kind of affecting me right now. I am in the training at the point of finding a niche and despite my interests, I feel kind of stuck as far as knowing what exact product(s) I could market. It seems like, basically, I can't move forward with training unless I find my niche...which is taking longer than I want. Any advice on staying focused and finding that niche? I really want to make this work.

Getting organized is one of my banes! It's one of those classic ADHD symptoms that I seem to have. Can't seem to organize for anything, but still trying to organize what I want my site to do. That's one of those executive functions. Darn it! But that doesn't mean I'm giving up, just trying to find workarounds while i wait to get a referral for assessment for officially being ADHD. :)

As far as you niche, what are you *most* interested in. What captures your interest and gives you the most energy. What keeps coming in front? For me, it was Victory Infopublishing. I'd wobble from niche to niche to niche (in 2009), but what kept coming in front was self-development, and self-improvement, and Victory Infopublishing, so I finally surrendered, and never went out of the market, then I started nicheing down to self-sabotage, then self-sabotage for people new to ADHD (and with my first site in the Victory Infopublishing, empire, Koffee Klatch), women new to ADHD either newly diagnosed or not.

Remember that a niche does not necessarily mean that it is something you know a lot about. You can learn. What do you like to do? Drive? Cook? Sports? DIY?
Hope this little bit of advice helps.

I know that feeling Keith as I'm sure most of us here do or did. Don't let it paralyze you though. MaxiMos has given great advice here. YouTube searches show what you are really interested in. Do you have a hobby or are you passionate about something? Those are the best niches to create content around because it will flow naturally from your experiences.

I also saw a post not long ago about picking a niche at random, on any subject and then go after the keywords that people are searching for but no one, or few are writing about. Write quality content targeting those keywords that are, so to speak, low hanging fruit.

You will get there, you are not alone!

Hope that helps,
Kevin

Thank you Kevin!

My pleasure - good to meet you!

Hi Keith.
Finding your niche in the starting can feel daughting especially if its all new to you.

When I joined I thought of a motivation niche and some other things popped up along the way.

So I wouldn't stress it too much, because you can and will always find other niches.

One tip for finding a niche I can share with you is to ask yourself what do you enjoy watching on t.v or youtube.

Then do a search, usually through youtube for more about that subject and bingo!

You've got a niche that you already know abit about or have some interest in.

Example: I like to watch MMA and Boxing sports, combat sports on youtube.

Now if I ask myself, is there a market for anything associated with them?

Yes there is...

Example: Training equipment, boxing gloves, clothing, season tickets... etc.

You get my drift?

And staying focused.

Thats an individual decision, you could start to remove the distractions or limit them for your attention.

Example: Wasting too much time watching t.v programs and the likes, when you could be building your dream.

Also we must put emotional importance into what we are doing online, meaning the more mentally we tell ourselves that such and such is important (ie finding your niche/s and staying focused) then that will become habitual, hence putting an end to distractions and gain focus.

Also be in the habit of discipline with you efforts, I mean do a peice each day dont try to do all things at once, it takes time to grow.

Just be consistant.

You're not alone in this, I've been there and I'm sure everyone else here at WA has aswell.

Hope that helps.

Nice advice. I must be as well.
Thank you sir,MaxiMos you have shared a great contribution like ours new here at WA.

Hey thanks, I'm happy you can benefit from it!
All the best!

Almost anything has items related to it that are saleable. From the guy who cuts the grass as a landscaper, (power tools, fertilizer, decorative items, self-help books). To the businessman who works at his desk, (computers, phones, ledgers, software, self-help books).

Take something that you know and love to do, something that you can talk to with your friends, and put that down as your niche. Even if it is drinking beer. People want to know about beer.
