Those A-HA moments are so exciting!

So for quite some time now I have been working through the certification training and affiliate BootCamp, which has been a really good way to cut my teeth on this whole business with affiliate marketing online.

What has been more difficult has been determining what my niche should be, and whether there's enough of a gap in the market for me to be successful.

The exciting thing is that I have found my niche! It's something I'm passionate about and I've done a lot of research is to where my competition might be. Interestingly it's not going to be a Global Reach niche - I've decided to keep it quite narrow and focus on my country only, and people interested in a specific service.

Yes there is competition, but I believe that wealthy affiliate has given me the tools and the knowledge to tackle my competition head on, and have some advantages.

So what have I learnt about my competition and my Target audience?

Have my Competitors completely lost the Plot?

  • Many of the big players have massive websites which encompass more than one niche. In this regard, perhaps they have lost their way a little bit, and at the very least, probably not giving my chosen niche the love it truly deserves
  • Rather than trying to be all things to all people, I am going to focus on what my niche customers really want, and deliver an easy to navigate website that gets straight to the point
  • There are a few similar niche specific websites out there, but they are largely out of date, not responsive or mobile friendly. As a result it's clear that their user base is seeking alternative solutions to solve their need.
  • The great thing about building a website through SiteRubix is the all the templates are hand-picked by WA and will be mobile friendly and fully responsive.

My potential audience all hang out on Facebook but...?

  • There is a strong online community within my intended audience on Facebook. Facebook has also been used to try and meet the need that the larger websites are not meeting.
  • Rather than seeing this as a threat, there's a huge opportunity to capitalise on those networks. Facebook does have it's limitations. So producing an elegant solution for my audience has got to be a better option for them.

Real life relationships matter

  • I already have connections to my intended audience! And the best part, is they want what I'm going to offer.
  • In fact just one of my contacts, who works in a related niche has a Facebook following of over 7000 people! Just being able to tap into that and have her endorsement will be huge!
  • Its great to have friends with influence and social clout.

After scoping out what my new website might look like, I've realised it's going to take a while to get it up and running. I don't want to rush the launch of the site because I've probably got one crack at doing this right and getting decent buy-in from my audience.

I'm going to need your help!

This project is going to stretch my technical ability like nothing I have attempted before! This is where the power of the wealthy affiliate community will kick in. Just being able to get feedback on my progress, ask questions of more experienced WordPress developers on here, as well as those with an eye for detail and design, will be a massive contributor to the successful birth of my new website baby.

That's why I love the Pay It Forward mindset here on WA. We've all got something to offer and share. It's great to be part of each other's successes and challenges.

Success

I've tagged this is a success Post because just getting to the point of clarity feels like a huge breakthrough. And those A-HA moments don't come along very often these days!

Have you had an A-HA moment on WA yet?

Perhaps you've mastered a new skill, or found the right niche idea like me?

Whatever your A-HA moment has been, I'd love to hear about it!

So please share in the comments below; and I look forward to sharing more about my latest project with you once I've actually done some work on it!

Best wishes, Karen

I have tried different social media, twitter, Linkedin, Instagram and Facebook over the past few weeks....

the A-Ha happened on Facebook.

Started very slow with few shares, as I keep posting (and adding content to my site) I have surpassed 1,000 reaches and every week following and the shares are growing. I have found that addressing the right market (audience), captivating headlines with the right content and connections are a must.

Learning as I slowly move forward and looking forward to increasing A-Ha`s as I apply what I learn here at WA from the training and the knowledgeable members.

Good on you!! I'm just about to launch my new site and I'm still fence sitting about whether I need to set up a separate social media presence just for that niche. I think I know the answer is yes, but it all takes a lot of time and work so I need to make sure I pick the right platforms. Facebook will definitely be right up there. I've always focused on twitter in the past, but for this particular audience I may be better to use Instagram or Pinterest. It's a science - that's for sure! All the best, Cheers, Karen

Good afternoon Karen,

I went to click on your website but it did not open, neither incognito. This happened today with an other person's website also. I then went to my own profile and click on my own websites and everything is ok. This has never happened before.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Which website?

This happened on your kdforsman.com, but now everything is ok again, the same with the website of that other person.
It must have been one of those technical things.

Whew! Good to hear !

I find that the moments are rather few and a bit far apart. But, I'll keep trying. Ta.

Absolutely. Celebrate them when they happen

I love the A-HA moments when I get them.
Take time, as success is a process like planting a seed it needs time and nourishment to grow
Good luck and wish you great Success
Love your post

Thanks! Yes the great thing is that there's no huge rush. At the moment I'm mucking around with a siterubix test site to learn about some of the Wordpress plugins I haven't used before. That's the great thing about WA. Cheers Karen

Here's to your great success! Karen :)

Thanks! Right back at ya!

I'm glad our paths have crossed and look forward in working with you and likewise need that same feedback as I develop. I am also working on 2 new ideas and will keep it under wraps on siterubix till ready
good luck

sounds good. Yip, I'm not ready to put it all out there yet, but once I'm a bit nearer to launching my site, I thought it would make an interesting case study. (but I'm a fair way away from that right now!)

looking forward to seeing what it is

My biggest A Ha moment was when I really did realise I could promote more than one thing on my website.

Love it! You are so right, it's easy to get a very narrow focus, when the possibilities are in fact endless! Cheers, Karen

You have the riht ideas. Much success to you

Thanks Pablo... Now the steep learning curve begins! Cheers, Karen
