About Kdforsman
Joined June 2017
My name is Karen and I live in beautiful New Zealand!

Writing has always been a passion for me. I wrote my first fiction novel a couple of years ago, with a sequel painfully slowly underway, I’ve always been a keen blogger & social media marketeer. Over the years my career has been loosely aligned to my interests – everything from marketing & sales, business development, training manager, and most recently, project managing the operational aspects of an industry database and a large team of staff & sub-contractors.

In 2016, it hit me, I'd lost my passion for my 'day job' (I'd always been very career minded, so this was a tough pill to swallow), but it was time for the big question; Where to from here?

After much angst, discussion and debate, my husband and I agreed to embark on a complete change of direction, career and a brand new adventure. We packed our bags, and sold our home in the suburbs, leaving behind the safety net of our salary paid jobs, to purchase a boutique accommodation business on the sparsely populated West Coast of the South Island.

To say motel ownership has been a whole new learning curve, is a complete understatement! But I’m pleased to say that making the change has been the right decision for us. We are both enjoying a more stress free lifestyle, no more being stuck in traffic and the constraints of a 9-5 job, and for me personally, a whole lot more time to focus on my writing and building up a sustainable income online.

Affiliate Marketing has always held a lot of interest for me. However, as I’m sure you’re aware, there’s so much ‘noise’ and competition in this space, it’s really hard to see what actually works and what’s a load of hot air and hype. This can result in a lot of time spent for very little result. If you’re anything like me, your time is precious!

Wealthy Affiliates has already delivered more than I had expected it to. Not from an earnings point of view, as it's still very early days, but rather the training available and the knowledge I'm gaining. Also, through premium, I plan to take full advantage of having multiple websites for the one low annual fee.

In fact, I've already built our motel website here on Wealthy Affiliates and it's now indexed via google, which is really cool! If you are ever planning a trip to New Zealand, be sure to luck us up!

Anyway, that's a bit about me, I'd love to hear from you, so drop me a note below. Looking forward to connected with like minded peeps and learning from this amazing community.

Best wishes,
Karen

Thanks Karen for your connection especially from across the ditch.
We moved from Brisbane to get away from the humidity because of my wife's heart failure. It good to get out of the rat race.
We are retired to Tenterfield up on the range and south by 4 hours in the bush town.
I will go through your sites and see what I can do to help you. I do blogs about being positive with health and wealth.

Thanks for your time, Tom.

Hi Karen, I'm amazed how quickly you have accomplished so much . I'm still struggling with what to put on my About me page, perhaps u can help. Basically I want to help older people on fixed incomes to earn money via aff marketing so they achieve FF. If u have suggestions I'd appreciate them. Thank you.
Keep up the good work and keep us all inspired! Loved your article on what you have learnt....

Hi Renu, thanks so much for your lovely feedback. I know what you mean though about writing the about me page, it's hard isn't it! I think if you can pull out a few personal things about your life or career etc that can relate back to why you are passionate about your niche you can't go wrong. Even if your niche is personally interesting to you because you're having to solve those problems in your own life - the more you can relate yours own story to what you are writing about, the better. People like to know the person behind the keyboard! All the very best for your online adventures! Cheers, Karen

Great to meet a fellow KIWI.... love your profile and thanks for the contact. You REALLY have been busy with WA.... quite an act to follow!
I'm domiciled at beautiful Waikanae Beach on the Kapiti Coast, 55km North of Wellington. I found this site earlier in the week and have fallen for it straight away.
You sound like a beautiful person and I would like to keep in touch as we build the business. My lovely partner is Karen as well and we are trying to move into early retirement so we can increase our travelling. We made it to the top of the South Island in March this year with the intention of seeing some of the West Coast but never got past Blenheim, Nelson and Golden Bay.... maybe next time,,,, and I'll make sure Omau is a stopover!!

Hi there again, maybe you can help
I just finished my purchase cycle training and will post shortly. I would like to know at what stage do I join affiliate marketing suppliers like Amazon. This will be my second post on hardcoresportsequipment.net I chose to start with boxing as the big fight is coming up and I do boxing as a Cardio Workout. I will review some gloves and compare some prices.
But should I not at this stage have joined affiliate programs and add links if indeed I start getting traffic?
Regards
Morne

kdforsman Premium
Hi there Morne, If you follow the training on here, you will see that adding affiliate links comes much later down the track, as the focus needs to be on building out the content on your website. However, I do understand that you are trying to get your site ready and indexed before the big fight, so I guess that there's no harm in starting to add affiliate links. Amazon may cancel your associate access if you don't achieve a sale within a certain time period, so it may be worth investigating other options. Here's my top ten list for beginner affiliates - FlexOffers could be a good option for you as you can view their entire product/advertiser directory before you sign up, to see if any of their products are suitable. http://writingforcash.com/the-top-10-affiliate-programs-of-2017-for-beginners Hope that helps, Cheers, Karen

Hi Karen,

Welcome on WA, I hope you'll enjoy your journey here.
Where on the west coast do you have your motel?
I'm a big fan of your country. Sadly enough it's been 16 years, the last time I've been there. It's for me the fartest distance to travel in the world.
And it's a big goal of mine to go back.

I followed the America's Cup to see the Kiwi's bring it back home! Because the last time they won it, I was in NZ feeling the buzz live

Hey Karen,

I'm following you back after taking the time to read your profile. Nice to see how you made your life better by taking a not easy but right decision.
I would love to visit New Zealand one day and think about it for several years... almost did it when I was in Australia, but I lacked in time and money at the time...

So I will remember that I know an address there which seems really nice! I just took a quick look at your website and it's even better than I expected! :)

When I'll have enough success to travel again... ;)

Oh, and I am currently starting to develop a niche about new technology, but I already have in mind to start another one about surfing in any case. So I could link "leisure" and "business" when I'm travelling --> also known as "bleisure"

Reply

Oh really? That is wonderful.. Two days kind of short although Singapore is just a little red dot. You will be amazed at the cleaniness, orderly, efficiency, safety, etc.....Most first time visitors to Singapore are wow with the world class airport.

Peeps are friendly, majority speak english (and singlish) . For two days, you can visit Orchard Road, perhaps take a cable car to Sentosa, visit the Marina Bay Sand where millionaires are made..err, rather folks who lose their fortunes...

Yes, you heard right, one can easily ride the tube (MRT) right to the door step! So ride the public transport to soak in the atmosphere

you can check the ducky tour to hop on the open top bus and catch the city although it might get a little warm..(June July being the hottest months of the year)

now, if you happen to visit Newton Hawker center, (popular with tourists) check the prices (ie seafood ) LOL Among other places you can visit are Chinatown, Little India, Raffles Place (business CBD)

I'm beigining to sound like a tourist guide :)

Enjoy yourself and Happy Stay in Singapore.

Chats again.

Thanks Steve,

yes, we're only there for a two night stopover on our way to Phuket. By all accounts, I believe it's going to be a trip of two halves, with Singapore being pristine and clean and Phuket being somewhat opposite?

Either way, with winter now here in NZ, it will be nice to head somewhere warm for a bit of down time!

By the way, if things don't work out with your online business, I reckon you'd make a great tourist guide!

Excellent, I like your Getting Started page content.

One thing that I always recommend is to "show" people more within your content instead of just "telling" them. By this I mean that you should not just let them know about something, you should walk them through a process. Help them. Use screenshots or images to represent what you are talking about.

This will lead to a much more enjoyable user experience and will also lead to much higher conversions.

Besides that, you are definitely off and running here and it is just is a matter of building out your initial base of content.
