Fake comments, wasted time

I guess one can call this blog entry as "venting". So let me vent, in hopes that some will think about it and will think again next time they leave a comment. Time and again I have to decline comments on my pages because they sound totally irrelative and just plain "fake". Men leave comments on my site that is about a preteen/teen fashion! They don't have a clue about the industry and most likely they don't have kids of that age, and even if they do, their kids' mothers do the clothes shopping. Tip: please don't leave a comment on a page that isn't of ANY interest to you. I suppose it goes both ways: there are things that a woman wouldn't usually have an interest in, such as tire rims or something. So think before you write, in order not to waster yours and mine time. You spend your time reading, then thinking of what to write, only for me later decline it and wait again for another comment. Let's brake the cycle of wasteful time.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for making a point Katya!

Thank you for your honesty

This is all exactly to the point. There is also something negative to be said about 'generic' comments. (those written that are not content specific OR well wishes for success.)

Comments that do not add something to the thread are written by people who should be horse-whipped with a mad horse!

I agree. It's just common sense that no one would be spending time on a website that they have no knowledge or interest in. What's most annoying is when they mention this in their comment. It's too hard to edit a comment like that without almost completely rewriting it.

I just started plain refusing such comments.
Thanks for the feedback.

I agree with you. That being said, I can certainly give website comments on all kinds of websites. That feedback is not necessarily content specific. Regarding comments on pages or posts, I steer away from those that are of no interest to me. You're right -- it then makes it too difficult to be genuine.

Indeed so, Steve!

Hmm, I beg to differ. I raised 2 girls and I know more than I care to about their fashion wants and what I think they need hehe...

Have to be careful, we men do get involved in many things when it comes to our kids, even the darn makeup they think they need, or the latest smartphone...

OK, on the last bit, there were no smartphones when my girls were that age. They wanted their own phone lines in their rooms and their own TV...

I do have 6 grandkids though, of which 2 are girls, and one is a teen. Does that count?

In reality, though, the gist of what you are saying is correct. Either do some research and know what you are talking about or move on to another post to comment on is best...

Cheers!
Dave : )

I agree 100% with you, Dave!
I have a girl and I know so much about "girls things", fashion, clothes, etc...
But she is right that the person has to do some research or to have some knowledge regarding the topic.

Dead Dave,
I would love a comment from a person like you, I bet you have a thing or two to say about modern fashion since you DO know what you're talking about. But those who don't... better not pretend since anyone can smell a fake from afar.

Hi, Katya...

You gave me a chuckle this afternoon hehe...I am deep into this consultant project for a local video agency this week, so am just popping in and out at WA...

If you look at the comment, you greet me with "Dead Dave." I can assure you I am alive and well haha! Thank for that, I needed it. Busy times does not mean a lack of time for a bit of fun!

Believe it or not, I have taken that little bit of knowledge from what the kids and girls want to the next level (as we should with any knowledge we may have?)...

We have two drop ship stores that sell dresses, shawls, under clothing, etc. to young girls and those not so young. This is not the first time I have made money off this...

Years ago I was on vacation in Minnesota where I grew up with the wife and kids. I had given the kids $1000 each for the vacation (4 weeks) to spend as they liked, but no more (they were teenagers at the time)...

One of the first big shopping trips we made as a family (also there were some other of my family members along for the ride) was to the Mall Of America...

The girls got roped in not 5 minutes after we entered the Mall to this beauty model shot place and for the next 5 hours they were getting made up, hair was done up, and wearing fancy clothes for professional studio type pictures...

Me? I ended up drinking cappuccino outside in the walkways of the mall and wondering where I went wrong in life hehe. While drinking my 4 cups, I noticed this store that had massive traffic over an extended period of time.

The age groups of the traffic ranged from young girls to older ladies, and they were buying like crazy what the store had. I wrote down the name of the store, and later did research on them.

It turned out they were standing at a very good price on the stock market. I invested in the stock, based on the research and what I saw hands on that day.I made MUCH more than the $2000 I gave the kids! ; )

How much did the kids spend at that one place that day? They spent $500 each! So literally they had almost a month to go, and of course, they ran out of spending money within a couple of weeks.

It was a lesson for all of us, that trip to the Mall of America!

Cheers!
NOT Dead Dave : )

I agree, thanks for sharing

I understand your point. But even if a person isn' t interest in your subject doesn't mean they are fake about sending you good wishes and encouragement

I totally agree with you thank you for bringing that up!

Great post, Katya. I agree completely. It's too bad there isn't a better "filter" to weed out the fake comments on our websites. Wishing all of our site comments could be helpful and sincere.
Sue
