In the flavor of writing enlightening and motivational posts, here is one that might sound familiar to you.

The two sides...

Each of us have at least two sides. In this illustration we have the dark and the bright. Neither side is "right" or "wrong"," they just are.

I like rain and I like sun. Hence the middle woman—half in darkness and half in the light. I like this image because it embraces the two sides of self.

This relates to our entrepreneurial lives because we all have to "weather" the good, the bad, the ugly in whatever way we interpret those things.

Sometimes we even have to start over. I had to start over a few months back. It was hard, but it was worth it because it made me rethink a lot of things I had taken for granted. I hope it doesn't every happen again, but if it does I have the skills to cope with it.

Like a Diamond...

We can draw strength to do what needs to be done from the multiple sides of ourselves.

Think of it like this: We are like diamonds, we are multifaceted and have extreme worth and value. And we are one of the hardest substances known to man. That doesn't make them (or us) indestructible, but it does make them hard to crack!

We can gain this beautiful toughness by persistence in our businesses, in our lives and in all aspects of being us.

But it does take persistence, connection and tenacity.

Persistence-in other words just keep trying.

Connection-most of us, as human beings, need connection. We need someone to talk us through the hard stuff or at least be with us. It is hard going it alone. But sometimes we have to do that, too.

Tenacity-I like to think of this as "persistence on steroids, supercharged and unyielding."

Long story, short...

Explore your two sides (or multiple) sides and find out what is driving you to make this business a success. In other words...FIND YOUR WHY. You know, that thing that makes you want to do this?

• Is it to make money? Then be clear on that and let nothing stop you.
• Is it to help others? Then be relentless in finding and offering solutions to them.

Whatever it is, work at it with persistence, connection and tenacity. You may be just a "diamond in the rough" right now, but you are beautiful and you have worth and value and a message that someone needs to hear.
