Dreams
I talk to a lot of people in my profession as a reporter/ad sales representative for the local newspaper.
I talk to them about their goals and their dreams and hopes.
They tell me what they've done and what they hope to accomplish.
After writing hundreds of stories and selling hundreds of ads the biggest common denominator is lack of hope.
(Just imagine that says, "Dreams Coming True" not "Dreams Coming Rue!" We already have enough rue! Ah, the wonders of AI. But it is getting better!)
So many people are losing that drive to dream. Or maybe it is they are losing the belief that their dreams can come true.
They turn on the news and see violence erupting everywhere. They see devastating storms and natural occurrences. They see inflation and lack. They see hopelessness and anger.
I still believe in magic and the power of dreams. I would have canceled my membership here long ago if I didn't believe dreams can come true.
I am not the kind of person who wants to live a life of failed dreams and then settle for that and I don't want my neighbors to do that either. Who is my neighbor? Anyone that I come in contact with. Anyone that reads my blog posts or books or stories in the newspaper. (I have a lot of neighbors!)
I believe that dreams can still be followed and accomplished.
I guess I am feeling a bit melancholy today. I hurt physically, but deeper than that, I hurt in my heart. I want to help people overcome their feelings of hopelessness. I want to show them that there is so much that can be done to help them reach their dreams!
In other news...
- For those who missed it in my last post, I made a sale on Amazon.
- I sold myself an ad in the newspaper for selling the paperback versions of my books. My boss is letting me set up a display at the news office so I can sell them there, as well.
I'm sure there is more, but you will have to wait for the next post!
It's nearing the weekend, so hope you all enjoy your day and your weekend!

Karin, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your heartfelt post about the power of dreams.
It's so easy to get caught up in the negativity of the world around us, but your words are a beautiful reminder that we all can make our dreams a reality. I love your determination to help others overcome their feelings of hopelessness and reach for their goals.
Your positivity and enthusiasm are truly inspiring!
And congratulations on your Amazon sale and setting up a display at the news office, that's exciting news!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend and looking forward to your next post!

Congrats on your sale, Karin.
Yes, with everything that is going on these days, it's sometimes hard to dream anymore. However, we HAVE to have trust and hope for the future. We have to live daily and be positive. There's no sense in borrowing trouble that MAY or may NOT come in the future.
Keep the Dream alive!

I have much hope in the future. Besides if we just curl up and wait for the future that may not come we will not do anyone any good! I like how you phrased it, "There's no sense in borrowing trouble..."
Yes, keep the dream alive.

There is a difference, Karin, between having a dream and waiting for the dream to come to you. and having a dream and going out to meet it.

Very true, Bux. That's why I made goals so I can reach that dream! As Beauty sings in "Beauty and the Beast," "There must be more than this provincial life." In this case referring to the meaning, "limited in outlook".
I'm looking for more and I will find it! 😎

In this top-notch organization, Kyle and Carson made their dreams come true and, in doing so, created a space for all of us to do the same. I thank them and all others involved in the organization for that.
I believe those who give up on their dreams will, indeed, rue the day they did (the good news is they can all try again). I've lost track of my failures but never lost my ability to dream.
I gave up regular television 17 years ago. I hear people talk about shows they watch, but I can't engage. What did I miss? Not a thing, I'll wager.
Congratulations on your Amazon and book sales.
Have a good weekend, Karin.

Thanks, Dave. It seems that those who watch TV really have given up on their dreams. I mean, all the garbage on TV has disillusioned them to the point that they no longer feel their dreams can come true so why bother.
I seldom watch TV mostly because I can't afford cable and I live in a valley so we can't get decent TV reception over the air. But actually, there is much more to it than that. I don't want to get sucked into TV. I don't have the time to get wrapped up in the imaginary lives of others, I have too much invested in the real life of my own!
Keep on keeping on!
Karin
Maybe, Karin, but maybe dreamers break free because they have to.
Cable is a waste of money, I think.
I used to delight in my son's fascination with Jimmy Neutron and The Adventures of Billy and Mandy, so I would enjoy watching cartoons with him. However, by the time I was in my mid-twenties, watching prime-time TV for entertainment became mind-numbing. I have a smart TV that I watch occasional movies on.
Speaking of fairy tales, isn't that a dream without action? I guess that's why TV is such a waste of time. Sitting around wishing to experience the beauty of an island paradise (or whatever) when you could be developing a means to go there is quite sad.
I'm keeping on. You do the same.
