Figuring Out Google WebTools
So I am trying to figure out Google Web Tools. I saw through the entire 1 hour presentation by a Wealthy Affiliate associate in order to understand the basics. But I'm still a little bit confused by the error messages and if everything is working properly.
Below is a screenshot of my Sitemaps under the Dashboard. It is showing 260 URLs submitted and 157 URLs indexed. I'm wondering why the difference in the numbers? Do I need to do anything?

Wow, your blog post is super timely! I just set up webmaster tools and verified it... so I am waiting for it to actually capture some data to see if I get any of those error messages. Please continue to share anything you learn. Thanks for the knowledge

404 errors are no big deal, and I have seen that everyone has the same errors for update and missing author. I think it has to do with a change Google made about authorship, it is not affecting anything. I wouldn't worry too much about it. :))
Thank goodness... Was a little freaked out by 40-something errors on my site...
Do you happen to know why it shows 260 URLs submitted, but only 157 indexed?
I saw someone posted earlier about a way to fix this using the HTML Highlighter, I haven't had a chance to look at it yet.
I am not totally sure if it has to do with how long it takes a crawler bot to get to that page and what part of your site they may crawl for the duration that it happens. I think you can use fetch as google tool to crawl that page quicker.
Ah, ok! Perfect. I'm not going to worry about it right now... It would take way too long to do that on all of those missing pages.
I know, so far it hasn't hurt me getting indexed. In fact I just looked and went from page 5 to 2.5....rock on!
