Hit a Bit of a Road Block, But Will Persist

So after coming down with COVID, I've gone four days without creating a post for my site. I was on a strong pace of posting two articles a day for a few weeks, and now I'm finding it a bit of a challenge to get back on the horse, mainly because I've been looking at my traffic and it's been discouraging.

I know, I know, I'm not supposed to even look at this stuff so early on, but let's be honest, who can help it? I went from getting like 17 views per day (some organic, some direct) to getting 0 or 1, and I've noticed that the few rankings I did have on Google, Bing and Yahoo have been slipping and in some cases disappearing?

I think this is normal, but I really don't know. I'd love to hear from anyone in the communitty if this is standard or should be alarming.

At any rate, I'm confident I'll get back on the horse, so to speak, soon, but for now I'm in a bit of a funk.

Encouragement wanted! Thanks guys...

You certainly have been doing a great deal since joining WA. Although you are creating a lot of content, you are just getting starting and the longevity factor with google is not there yet. The whole process ebs and flows quite a bit anyway. Hang in there and set a pace that is manageable long term.

We see that you are very new here. It's exciting to see you have been very ambitious here. It looks like you are very passionate about your niche to write 2 posts a day.

Rankings can go up and down, especially since your site is so new. Make sure you have original helpful content that provides insight and offers solutions to your targeted group in your niche. Informational type posts are great for growing traffic.

If you need some more ideas of what to write about (for post titles) Partha gives some great ways to find questions people are asking about your niche. Keep your focus on your love for your niche and the opportunity to help others. Watch what query words your site is ranking for in Google Search Console. But most of all keep writing.

Your efforts are for the long haul.

Thank you, this was encouraging and helpful. I'll check out Partha's post.

You are welcome.

Hi - this is very early days to be getting any traffic at all, to be honest. It can easily take 3 months to build up trust with Google and show that the website is going to be around in the long term.

If you have direct visitors, then they could well have come from WA, as you have your website listed in your profile, and people are naturally curious to take a quick look.

And as Jeff has mentioned, unless you have specifically filtered out your IP address on Analytics, it will record your own visits too.

As for rankings, Google will continually evaluate your posts and your rankings will fluctuate continuously until after the first 6 months, when they will settle down.

Ok, good to know, thanks Diane

Jeff, first of all, hope you get past the Covid bite.

At this early stage simply focus on the training---step by step---and quality content creation. Those will be key to you eventually monetizing your site going forward.

The stats in this early stage will monitor your own visits unless you do them in incognito mode. It is highly unlikely that you are getting much traffic. Just something for you to consider, my friend!

Jeff

Thank you Jeff, that's what I needed to hear.

You're very welcome, Jeff! Best success to you!

Jeff
