GONE - Life without My Smart Phone!
Hello WA friends!
I had my iPhone stolen a few days ago while on holiday and it has been an interesting few days to say the least!
Honestly, I had thought that life would have been much more difficult without my phone and without WIFI and data, but doing without my always on connectivity has given me new perspective.
On one hand, it has made it much harder to communicate with my clients and friends without the convenience of WhatsApp. I realised how much I had come to rely on the group chat function for communication with multiple people at a time. Also not being able to access work and personal emails on the go has been inconvenient to say the least. And definitely not receiving WA email notifications has impacted my ability to respond promptly to new posts, comments and likes. : (
On the positive side, I realise how much time has been consumed checking my phone! I now have more time to take in the beauty of my surroundings, talk to those around me and enjoy my holiday!
So I will pay the price for less activity on WA, on email and other social media but will reap the rewards of being plugged in to the world around me. Actually feeling quite liberated!
Anyone else ever had this same experience?

When mine crashed a few weeks back I became very stressed out. Mostly because I had everything on my smartphone. My schedule, story ideas, everything. Fortunately, the phone actually was smarter than me and had backed up everything to the cloud! It’s taught me to not rely so much on technology and a little bit more on paper again; ie., writing things down!
Scary how dependent we get on 1 device isn't it. I'm enjoying my enforced break from mobile device dependency.
Yeah, wish my 16 year old step daughter would lose hers! No one can communicate with her on anything--she is so absorbed!

So sorry you lost your phone. I can’t imagine how disconnected you are feeling now especially when it comes to your business.
If I should lose my phone I will probably lose my mind...
Hi Jane, I thought I would too but it really hasn't been that bad. Some adjustments and you start seeing the silver lining!

A few years back, my daughter was in a train station in Italy and someone stole her purse from her lap as she was nodding off from due to jet lag. It had her phone and GameBoy in it and she was devastated. I was just happy her passport wasn't in the purse.
Long story short, she actually got to see Italy instead of having her nose buried on the phone the whole trip as it had been up to that point. Even she says she's glad it was stolen now!
Amazing how something designed to improve your connection to the world has an even greater but opposite effect.
Yes so true! I am in fact enjoying looking up and enjoying the world around me more than usual.
