Engineering Design Process in Affiliate Marketing
Hello WA world.
I have found that I tend to navigate toward analogies when I am learning something new. And beginning my journey in affiliate marketing has been no different.
As an instructional coach I often found myself creating trainings for my teachers that incorporate analogies so that they are better able to relate to strategies that could be used in the classroom to increase student learning and comprehension.
Well, lucky for me I went to a training for STEM in the science classroom a couple of weeks ago and could not quit thinking about how much the Engineering Design Process(EDP) applies to not only school and learning but quite literally so many things in life.
I started planning my affiliate marketing design with the EDP in mind. Yes, it was in the middle of my training because I just couldn't get it out of my head! Don't judge me haha
There are a few versions of the EDP but this little image is one that I just liked. Not so boring or maybe even scary when you hear something like 'Engineering Design Process'
I wanted to share how the EDP is not only used for scientists but quite possibly anybody who is creating anything!
So here is my analogy...
Step 1: ASK--> What is the problem/question you are trying to solve in your business? This could be whatever niche you choose.
Step 2: IMAGINE--> What can you do to help people answer that question? What product will give them the answers they are looking for?
Step 3: PLAN-->Research and develop a way to share the solution to the problem or question with your customers. Plan, plan, plan your delivery method.
Step 4: CREATE--> Put your plan in to motion and begin creating a way to deliver you solution be it a webpage, social media, blog, email system using
Step 5: EXPERIMENT--> Try various delivery methods, creations, and test them all. I think this could most definitely be impacted by what "platform" you feel the most comfortable with.
Step 6: IMPROVE--> Look at your data from the experiment and change the parts of your business that are not successful or struggling to produce.
The EDP is a continuous and ever changing and improving cycle. It can be adjusted as often as needed based on the need within each step.
I think my science teacher/instructional coaching brain will always be at the front of all my decision making and work patterns, which is clear why the EDP training resonated with me.
I hope this resonates with some of you and helps you in your journey.
