Are You Missing THIS, to Achieve Success?
I was reflecting on why some people are successful... and others aren't. There are a lot of reasons, but in the end... they can be distilled (in my personal experience) down into just three elements.
It always strikes a chord with me, when somebody is stuck on the fence... particularly when they have the resources that WORK, and do nothing with them.
I'm a thinker: I love to delve into the meat and potatoes, nuts and bolts, sub-atomic neutrino core level (well, not that LAST one...lol) of "WHAT? WHY? HOW?"
"What" is almost always the easiest question to answer. Most people are good at coming up with ideas. Everyone "dreams", at some level. But few ever get past that stage.
"How" is trickier, and while there's also more than one way to skin a cat, there's also more than one way to chop off your thumb doing it, as well...
But it's here, that the magic begins! It is here, that your brain starts getting into overdrive, thinking and molding your thoughts, visions, and ideas into a coherent flowchart of logic and sequential passages to achieve it.
It is HERE that you dig in deep, and pull out the best you have inside in resourcefulness and inventive. It's the genius moment, that we ALL experience, at some point or another.
Yet, even HERE at this stage, people stay on the fence, and do nothing with it the energy, euphoria, resources, knowledge, and clarity of vision.
And there's a reason for that.
It's that thing that makes other people spring to life at 5am, where others pull up the duvet, and roll over back to sleep.
It's that fire that pushes someone to make a change, because they know deep inside they CAN do more, and are only cheating themselves by staying in mediocrity.
It's that determination shared by the "we don't like easy" crowd, because we love the rewards that come with DOING something challenging.
It's the discipline that makes you get up again, with spirit, after each failure and another failure and yet more failure, when a million doors get slammed in your face.
It's the deep-rooted belief that you CAN do this, and there's only excuses as to why you DON'T.
And it's called your "WHY?"
So many people never take the moment of exploring the core reasons for doing what they do. Do ANYTHING for the wrong reasons, and all the resources and vision in the world won't make one bit of difference: you will fail by giving up, or sabotaging your OWN self in the end, because it doesn't resonate with your true beliefs.
Having said all that, nothing happens without action. All the knowledge you have won't mean a thing, if you don't apply it, and do something with it. ACTION is, in some ways, more important than the knowledge itself; you can LEARN by doing. I've gotten into things I had no clue about, and yet... by virtue of doing, failing, learning, and gradually becoming more proficient at it, I became successful in them.
There comes a point where you have to stop thinking, quit conjecturing and questioning, stop getting the "paralysis by analysis" syndrome... and just start DOING.
BUT... know WHY you're doing it.
Because that's when the magic happens. :)

Josh, awesome stuff, when the student is ready the teacher will appear. Love it, keep it coming.
"paralysis by analysis" Sure wish I could say not guilty to this one! I'm working on it! Hope that count for something!
But we also fall into this trap, thinking there is always a "better" way, a "perfect" way that we need to find, in order to start off on the right foot: the eternal quest for the silver bullet (and we all know that it's only the werewolves spreading that rumour!)
I think it's also a part of our inherent propensity for risk management, in an attempt to minimise the impact of failure.
Failure is going to happen. Get over it. Get over both the FEAR of failing, as well as the psychological implications of failure.
Because your response to failure is all in your head, depending on how you WANT to interpret it. Nobody controls your thoughts; you alone are saviour and devil's advocate.
Until you get moving, you won't see a single result. And "failure" is always a lesson learned. Sure, it'll set you back, and may even cost you. But that's just part of the process.
You don't have to get it perfect - because it never will be - you just have to get it going.

No truer words spoken. How I hate failure. Even though I realize it is a great teacher. How I must learn to deal with not being perfect. I like the perception of perfect! Gotta get off my high horse and work towards greatness, if not perfection! And get right back up when I fall off, like I do a real horse.

Thats great Josh. It is true we should look at our core reasons for doing things. It's all in the mind. It's all in our will. If we have the will to do something, we will do it.
