I got a question for you? The question is how to get comments on your blog?

This community contains A LOT of bloggers and website owners to say the least... and MANY VERY successful ones. Many successful businesses have been made here...and MANY MANY more will of course be made here.

We are soon a half million members! :) I don´t know how many NEW members join everyday but it has to be A LOT! Also many of you have been here for many years, even from the very beginning in 2005. Damn I wish I found this that early! Anyways...

I think you (we) all together could really give some great tips in the subject! Together we are strong, right?

Even if you don´t consider yourself a great success in the blogging (and getting comments) you might have great advice or tips? Atleast some ideas on how to get more comments.

So this WA community blogpost is for all of us to "bounce ideas" with eachother... So PLEASE leave your comment below :) ;)

I think we all know the importance and power of getting comments to our blog and/or website...

I mean organic comments from visitors that find your website or blog. How you get them to leave comments? I don´t mean using the get comments tool here inside the community... Just wanted to make that clear :)

Tell me (us) how you think the best way to get comments on your website/blog is?

Let´s help eachother killing it in 2016!!

Thank you all by the way for making this community AWESOME!

John,
I think I have heard what Dick has said many times, but I am still struggling to figure out how to talk with people and get them involved on my site.
I wish I could be more passionate with people in my blogs.
I will have to work on that and see what I can come up with instead of just being that sales person.
Would love to hear from others about this also.
Sheila

Yes exactly Sheila! It is intresting to hear what others have to say about how they accomplish this... Self criticism is a good thing... as long as you are aware of what needs to get better... it can only get better... Atleast I think so.

Thank you for your comment!

John, I'll try to answer Mac37. Mac, people will always be more likely to comment on a blog if that blog generates a strong emotion in them. That is why you hear the stress on quality over quantity. We have to talk with these folks and get involved with them and fire them up. We cannot sound like salesmen chasing the dollar.

Great advice! Thanks dickw!

Thank you for this info, I think of the best way is to let them engage with your topic.

Thank you startita70! Yes that is a great way of course... How do you engage them? Any tricks? :) ;)

A lot will depend on the amount of traffic you're getting to your site. Not everybody comments, but when visitors do comment, it too makes others feel more inclined to follow suit, A bit like people commenting on posts here and starting some form of discussion. Leave your readers with a couple of questions to answer on each of your blogs and see if that sparks some interest.

Thank you kennick20115! That is both very true and also some great advice, it will help... both me and others!

Hope you are having a great day!

Great idea!

Hi John, an open ended question like: " How do you go about ........ this particular issue?" I noticed it can spark some interaction.

Thanks for this blog. I have been having issues getting organic comments. Several of the ideas below may be exactly what I need but it will be interesting to see what other suggestions are given.

Thank you RonAlderman! Makes me very glad to hear that... That is exactly why I made this blog post... to help all of us with this issue. Comments are VERY important to get on your site. I agree on that there has already come in some GREAT advice on the subject.

A little trick you can try is, instead of just asking them to leave a comment, ask your readers a simple question relevant to the topic of your post that you specifically want an answer to. As long as they don't need to write an essay to answer it, it might invite them a little more to share their insight or experience, or start the conversation, so to speak. Hope this helps a bit.

Thank you CaroleG!! That was acctually a GREAT tip! Easy but probably (sounds like) VERY effective!

Are you doing this strategy) Have you notice that it works? :) ;)

Well, it also depends on the traffic you already get. My sites are still pretty new but yes that little call to action seems to stir things up. Like many people I still have a lot to learn and I'm still testing all sorts of things to get the best results.

I noticed that it all comes down to the niche. Especially when someone has lost money, or been scammed out of their money. People love to tell their sob stories, so the more controversial the niche the more comments I see. It is a same too as I have come across some excellent blogs with a ton of content, but the one's with the most comments are where people's pain exists the most. This is why review sites do so well. If you can find a topic that has affected people in some way (mostly negative) you will unfortunately get more comments as opposed to a very positive content action packed article. Sad but true.

Thank you mrwalt01 ! That is some GREAT info for all of us to take into consideration! So I guess your tips is to make people upset with the content then? :) :)

I agree totally with the comment of mrwalt01. controversy and emotion spark reaction. That's also the true essence of a blog. To raise awareness about a certain topic by using different perspectives. A lot of bloggers just simply give their opinion without triggering a dilemma within the mind of the reader

I just figured that my blogs were so full of information (not full of IT) and so well prepared that my viewers didn't have any questions. Or at least that is what I keep telling myself. lol Great idea. Let' us know what suggestions you get from the WAers regarding "coaxing comments." DAN

Lol! Don´t make your site TO good :) You have given to much info.. No comments necessary lol!

Thank you DAN! :)

Thanks John for your comment. I like your approach to asking the community for suggestions on how to get more comments. DAN

Hi JohnMiguel,I get what you're saying. How does one get comments on their blog, outside of WA? I get the occasional comment from people outside of WA. While I appreciate someone doing me a favour on WA, by commenting on my blog, it's nice to have the attention of people who came upon my site because they were out there looking. Tell me if I'm off base. I have no clue on how I do this. I have noticed a correlation between the blogs that move me and the blogs that get an emotional reaction from others. This is a non threatening learning environment, so I'm interested in what others have to say as well.

No you are not "off base" I think you are really on to something here. It sounds very logical that if you move someone emotional then they also more likely will leave a comment... Makes perfect sense to me :) It is also covered in the training that we get here... It would be intresting to know if people here have more "deep" specifik tricks to evoke visitors to leave comments :)

That would be really intresting to hear, right? I am hoping some "WA shark" stops by here and give us something like that ;)

Let us hope... :) Anyway...

It is of course a good feeling knowing that you help someone with the info they looking for in the first place... But... Also it is REALLY good for rankings if you get comments from visitors on your site.

Me to also get a decent amount of comments from visitors "outside of WA" but I can´t really see why some of my posts gets more than others... The only one reason I can point out is that the posts I get most comments on are also some of my most visited post... That also rank very high in the google searh engine...

But other than that I don´t see any crystal clear reason... It would really be intresting to know some "key factors" that lead to a lot on comments...

Thanks for your comment Mac37

What's up JohnMiguel! Just wanted to point out, they have a tool in SiteRubix specifically for that. It's called SiteComments. Check it out!

Lol yes I know :) That is not what I meant... I mean to get organic comments from visitors that finds your site/blog on google, Yahoo, Bing etc :) Maybe I didn´t make it clear in this blog post hmm... Guess I have to re write a little :)

Lol ok buddy, I apologize I might have read the blog wrong. Great question too.
