Don't be alarmed by the subject line by asking what has this got to do with affiliate marketing. This is a problem raising its head over and over again and it is being experienced across the globe, especially in developing countries who are waking up to the enormity of the problem.

It is a problem that resonates with me. Working as Finance Director some years ago, the company's checks (cheques) that were posted to suppliers were intercepted and cloned. It was a devastating experience and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Luckily the bank reimbursed the amounts in full.

As affiliate marketers we can educate people about this problem especially as we spend most of our time online. In the process of making a lot of money we also need to be aware of the scammers and risks posed online. This is also a good niche for those interested in fraud prevention.

I have summarized the news as broken in the UK media in the info graphics below. I have also included a free software link to the blog for those interested in shielding their bank details online.

Yes, there are a lot of a scammers online Joseph. There's also a lot of people flogging the latest, greatest addition you need for your website and building your business. Then a few months later they have another one that's the greatest. Sometimes I feel like asking them "if this one's better, then why are you still flogging the other one off as the best?" Annoying and entertaining all at once.

Thanks for the heads-up, a little late I guess - my response - but good to know and kind of scary!

I keep hearing stories like the one you shared and it is really both amazing and scary. I am shocked at how big and pervasive this problem has become. Thanks for sharing the information, Joseph.

Hello Joseph,
Thanks for addressing an important problem that we should all be aware off. I occasionally get scammers from South Africa, I guess because of my name, trying their schemes on me. However, scammers can be found all over the world. One needs to be vigilant about protecting their personal information. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Joseph
This problem is global for sure and we all need to be aware and so careful about personal information
There are literally 10000's of scammers out there and I know even here in New Zealand people are receiving phone calls from people pretending to be from Banks etc trying to scam people
It is so sad really because desperation creates monsters and so does greed
Thanks for the heads up in the post
