Figuring out how NOT to suck at managing time!
So I've been having trouble finding time to work on my website.
I know slow and steady wins the race but I feel that I'm even having problems with the steady.
I'm working about 60 hours a week and want to start incorporating a larger portion of my work week towards my new site. The overtime helps me with paying off my debt as I am on a really strict plan to get it paid off in a year.
But there are, of course, other things I would like to do. Like go to the gym or finding time to hang out with my girlfriend (which I already struggle with now).
So I guess I have to create a strict schedule going forward to help myself with committing specific time frames for the many things I have to fit in my day.
Any input on this would be AWESOME as I clearly suck at managing my time. I will be sure to post an update with my new schedule because it is imperative to my success here at WA.

Possibly try looking at what you have accomplished, rather than what still needs to be done.
I too am managing time for many things - current business, eBay business, kids, family - and now WA. I find it helps to take everything one small step at a time. I too get antsy in that I want to accomplish more. But when I sit back and look at all I have accomplished each day, I remind myself, "Boy! that was a lot!"
As for creating time in your day(s), possibly pick a time of day, or a particular day, that you will devote to X. Always, what I would like to accomplish in my workday hours is being rearranged based on my clients. So, every day, I start and end my day in the same way. Those are my times, early morning and late evening when kids and clients are not altering my time. I take a look at what is left on the to-do list. And then I decide what, if anything, I would feel better accomplishing in that moment. Or, I may decide if something more nurturing, physically or mentally, would be best. This helps to keep me in balance and to keep moving forward.
Thank you so much for your response. I will take that advice as far as selecting particular days to get certain things done (gym, business, OT). I think I do get a lot more done than I think I do but I just don't realize it. But thanks again for sharing this with me :)
I think you are doing well. You have your work schedule and targets, i like your passion and committment. Once you are done with your basic courses and with the initial stages of building your sites draw and maintain an active but manageable schedule.
Thank you for the support. I think I'll just stay committed to doing a little task at a time but always ensure I'm making progress each day :)
I know it`s not easy finding the time but you will manage this. Maybe your girlfriend wants to help you creating the website. When she understand why and what are you doing could help to understand.
Yea I have brought up my goals to her and she is supportive of them. I just want to make sure I don't completely forget about making time for her too :) Thank you so much for the advice!
The further you go the easier time management will get. You'l develop a system.Regards........Marty
Following the courses as kyle laid it out is a brilliant way to schedule your daily plan. It can't get easier than that. As a matter of fact you will always be ahead.
Remember Google looks at the age of your website. So daily, do the tasks that outlined in the lessons and you will be alright. Don't worry about formulating a stirict schedule just yet. Do a task, take your girlfriend out. Do a task, go to the gym. And so forth.

Well put my friend! I think that is why I have so disorganized. I have not been doing a task on my website each day but I will start to do so going forward. Thank you so much for your feedback :)
I know that I'm not best one to offer you advice in managing your time, especially with working 60 hours per week. But, what has helped me is identifying all tasks I need to do in my business within a week. Then using a spreadsheet, such as Excel, break those tasks down to each day of the week - maybe just 1 task per day. When you’ve dealt with that task, tick it off and move on to the next task, and so on. The main thing is not to stress about it. Just keep your mind focused and it will get easier.
Thank you so much Valerie! It's definitely a step in the right direction. I think you're right. I just need to keep organized with my business goals by writing it down. Even if I can just accomplish one task, it'll be one less task to worry about and I'll keep my momentum and progress going. Thanks again for your time and response. It's really helped me out :D
So pleased to be of help Jonathan. You will do well, I'm sure!

Yep, I certainly know what you mean too well my friend. I think that many of us here have (some had) that very same problem too.
Proper time management is definitely KEY to doing this whole online thing too, especially if your goal is to independently (fully) be working from home within a few short years.
Keep on keeping on Jonathan...you'll get there!
Best as always to you my friend,
