When I want to add images to my content can I google the image I want and if I'm allowed to copy and paste it can I use it?
Some of the other advice on avoiding Google images may be a good thing. Your decision. But the saving the image and eventually getting it to your page technique remains the same.
I've only been here a couple of months but I've have had some success with this project. When I go to google for images I make sure there are no water marks on the image and then save the chosen image to my pictures file. When I want to add media I do it 1 of several ways. You can experiment later. The simplest way is to click add media. Go to the file where you saved your image. Drag and drop your image into the add media window. It should show up and allow you to edit it (place it left, right, center and add a caption/label if desired) and place it on your page/post.

I'm not sure though that just because there is no watermark on the image that the "owner" of the image won't try and sue you, or do you have additional info on this topic?

I just went through that. You have to use the sites that provide free use like http://pixabay.com/ and I have found that some that say they are free still have water marks. I was told not to copy and past and try to find photos in those free image sites. There are several link found in discussion here on WA, like the one pixabay above. I wouldn't copy and paste unless I got permission. Hope this helps..

I didn't know about this one actually Dave. Cheers - it has some really great, and I mean really high-quality images. Ones that rival those on Shutterstock, Dreamstime and all those big sites! Site bookmarked and signed up.
July, many of those pictures you see in Google probably have copyright/license issues you do not want to deal with. What you can do is to use the Google Advanced Image Search and choose the option that allows you to find pictures you can use even for commercial purposes.

The Advanced Bing search is good too. Click on licensing - Free to use and share commercially.

Here is a little warning
People are actually putting images on Google in the hope that people use them so they can sue for breach of copy write
Last year someone was sued to the tune of $10,000
It really is not worth it

Also, in the Training which Kyle takes you through, he gives us some resources to get free images from, one of which is the Wikimedia Commons site.

Be very careful doing that is is copy write infringement better to purchase your images or go here fro free ones
