My Django Story: Overcoming Challenges and Turning them into Gems

Friends, yesterday I created and published a new video which stretched my skills to overcome several creative challenges - the main challenge being that I didn't even record the essential footage for more than 75% of the video.

You may remember that last year I played the great Filipino Hall of Fame pool player Francisco "Django" Bustamante, my friend was recording the match on my smartphone (an Android at the time) while I was playing.

.

What I didn't tell you was that after 1:11 the battery in my phone completely died!

Bummer!!

I've been beating myself up about this ever since we played, because "Django" (Bustamante's nickmame because when he was a teenager he used to always dangle a cigarette from the side of his mouth when coming to the pool room) delivered this incredible"highlight reel" multi-rail bank shot on the 9 Ball at the end to win the game.

You really had to see this shot to believe it - it is on par with another amazing shot by Earl Strickland (as seen in another video of mine) which now has over 1400 views.

Before I explain further my thinking and execution process. do me a favor. Please go to my new video "Django Amazing 3 Rail Bank" at the link below, and let me know what you think.

While you're at it, check out some of my other recent videos from my vlog and let me know what you think.

Tell A Great Story

Creating an engaging You Tube video is all about telling a great story. Every great story has these 3 major components:

1. The Problem (stated in the beginning)

2; The Conflict

3. The Resolution

Doesn't this sound familiar? When writing a great blog post or creating any type of great content for that matter - whether you knew them or not, you were filling these same 3 components.

Think of the story as "The King". All else related to your content are only servants.

Everything you do to make a video, i.e., applying filming techniques, cinematography, finding all the background music and sound effects, sound engineering, editing, creating thumbnails, overlays end screens is all there only to "serve the King."

But the problem was I was missing over 75% of the content - the only content I had recorded was up to 1:11 of the video, where I am down getting ready to take my 3rd shot (that's when my battery died).

In order to make this video I had to search the internet and find relevant content, and then incorporate some of the new techniques I previously only observed other successful You Tubers doing, but had to LEARN ON THE FLY WHILE CREATING THIS VIDEO. all the while making new content while remaining truthful to what actually happened in the story.

So what is only a 3:44 video, took 8-10 hours for me to complete. That was from idea creation to upload on You Tube. Others who know You Tube I've told this to have confirmed that I was able to accomplish this in a relatively quick amount of time.

This was between doing the research, creating the new "missing" content and finding older content to repurpose, designing the thumbnail, finding the royalty-free background music and sound effects, file conversions, etc. - you get the idea.

Test Your Observations: What "Missing Ingredients" Did I Bring In?

After watching my new video "Django Amazing 3 Rail Bank", did you notice what were some of the "missing ingredients" that I decided to bring into the video to finish telling a compelling and entertaining story?

Did you notice what were some of the techniques that I incorporated to tell my story and to keep your attention?

Please let me know what they are in the comments below.

And if you enjoyed the videos, please hit subscribe and click on the bell, and you will get a notification for my new videos when they come out.

As always, I greatly appreciate your support.

Cheers,

Kaju

Good job on the vid my friend. You baited the hook very well and played it just so. I took the bait, yummy, and didn't jump to the end to see the shot. Well done.

Greg

This is a highly useful and great compliment Greg - that I kept your attention until the end without jumping forward. Thanks so much:)!

All these comments that you put during the video are really good ideas. We don't lose attention on the video and at the same time the comments entertain us. Then to make negative in positive as you did for the death of your battery was an excellent idea, that remains funny and makes us want to watch until the end of the video. Very good job!

Friendly!
Ingrid

Wonderful Ingrid Thanks for watching! I only wish you would put this (or a similar shorter comment) under the video. Can you do that for me?

No problem!
I will do it right away.

Thank You!

I just put the comment, it's in the name of Astrid (it's my middle name)

Yes I did see it and responded. Thank You so much!
