Hey everyone,

I was just taking about how I earned my first affiliate commission and would like to hear different stories on this subject.

(I hope to hear from everyone from people who have made commissions in a short amount of time to those who took a year or more like myself.)

After reading an article on google, I am curious to know how long it took you to earn your first affiliate commission?

Also, was there any particular reason it took you so long if at all?

What was the biggest thing you learned throughout the process of earning your first affiliate commission? What was the moment that it all sort of "clicked"?

Thanks in advance for sharing your stories and hope for more success for all of you.

Jessie

I received my first affiliate commission (not WA) in 7 months of over $200.00. Working hard and consistently, following the lessons and doing the tasks.... (I'm not finished my lessons).

I follow Jay's Webinar too... the 21 Minutes 7 Steps to Ranking.

does the webinar help rank for websites that are new? Will new websites rank immediately if they follow these steps?

Hi Jessie,

Great question, unfortunately, I can't answer this.

I started following Jay's webinar in the 7th month I believe and I created my site in January. My site was at least 7 months old and I had about maybe 30 posts written then.

I would still just follow Jay's webinar, the one I mentioned above even if it's new. They are still procedures we should be doing anyway.

My first commission was somewhere around October 2017.
I started here at WA in April 2016, but the first several months I was pretty lazy and didn't do much, so I would say I took almost exactly one year to make that first $8.
I still haven't received it, though. :(

How come you haven't received your commissions yet?

My first commission that I ever earned (well aside from one Amazon one that I am not counting) was right here at WA. I had one trial member go premium.

Unfortunately, I have only ever had that one, which earned me $8, but WA has a minimum payment of-- I believe-- $10. So unless I get another $2 in commission, that $8 will stay in Limbo.

Well, I earned my first commision at 3th month mark! I am in weight loss niche and everyone are talking about how that niche is so competitive that you can't even earn money but persistence and will are the keys.

I even get page 1 ranking at 3 month mark so everything is possible. Regular content publishing is important, I am publishing 2-3 times per week, so more content => more traffic => more revenue.

That’s great news that you made that money in 3 months. I myself am learning the value of putting out content as fast as possible

I have shared this elsewhere, but it may help to be placed here as well. This is what Kyle says about this topic.

Here is how your journey could look, a realistic journey.

MONTH 1: Accomplishments
Website Set Up
SEO Set-up
Initial Framework of Content
Indexed by Google, Bing, Yahoo
You have 5-10 posts on your website
Earning Potential: A few sales, just getting your business foundation started

MONTH 3: Accomplishments
Content Starting to Get Ranked
Experience Some Big Breakthroughs in Search
Have Made Your First Sale or Two
Traffic is Cumulatively Starting to Grow
Search Engines are starting to give your site "authority"
You have 30-60 posts on your website
Earning Potential: $0-$500 per month

**Kyle's Note: "It took me 3 months to make my first sale online. Here I am 15 years later full time online, if I quit in the first month I would have never gotten to the experience of lifelong and very fruitful business online. There is something to be said about being patient and not expecting "instant" success in business."

MONTH 6: Accomplishments
Traffic is starting to flow, ideally 100 uniques per day
Sales start to increase with consistency, several per week
You are truly starting to gain some expertise and brand
Bing/Yahoo start indexing your site at a higher rate
Engagement on your site starts to increase
You have 60-100 posts on your site
Earning Potential: $500-$3,000 per month

ONE YEAR:
Traffic is really starting ramp up. You can expect 500+ visits per day
Google is granting your site with some serious authority
Companies and other blogger start to reach out and connect with you
You are making WA sales and other affiliate sales daily
The Vegas Super Affiliate Conference is in your sites
You have 100-150 posts on your website
Earning Potential: $3,000-$10,000 per month

TWO YEARS:
Your business is truly starting to thrive
You are definitely a noticeable force in the search engine world. Google ranks your new content within 24 hours of it being posted.
You are earning a full time income online
Vegas is yours, you have most definitely made it
You have 200-300 posts on your site
Earning Potential: $10,000-$20,000 per month

5 YEARS:
You are a brand/authority in the industry
You have a full time+ business online, likely 6 figures plus annually
Google, Bing & Yahoo love you
You are taking earnings and spending it to drive your business through paid channels
You likely have made several hires, including writers, design help, and a virtual assistant
You made Vegas in the first 1-2 months of the year (with your sites on the 3,000 sales)
You are in a position to double your business annually
Earning Potential: $10,000-$50,000 per month

But remember, you are building a business here. You get OUT of your business what you put into it. Ask any successful person what the fundamental reason why they are successful and others are not and they will usually say one of two things. Hard Work or Focus.

When someone makes their first dollar depends on how much of the training they follow and how much time is available to devote to getting things going.

Just out of curiosity, I'd like to know how many people here reach these numbers.

I know that it's possible. Definitely possible. But I don't think I know anyone who has actually done it.

Still haven't earned my first commission, I am now at about the 1 month mark. Hope to be able to comment with an earning soon, even if it's just change ;)

You are just getting started, I see way to many people get discouraged at 8 month marks.

I have read many people who didn't make anything until 1 year and a half or 2 years.

Its just a matter of persistence.

If there is one thing I can tell you, write as much content as humanly possible. Your rankings will shoot through the roof if google sees you are really active.

I found this out because I have seen a lot of new people who have started later than I have reach success faster than I did.

Now I am trying to churn out as much quality content as possible.

Jessie

I have put out almost 20 articles so far, my pace is slowing a bit now that I have a solid content base, but I still hope to get a couple new articles a week.

I need more reviews, doing that feels like actual work. The regular content is fun though.

Thank you for the advice! I am happy that you are turning a profit now congrats!
