Brand Asked for a Sponsored Post - My first $150
I just want to share with you that I received an email from a U.S. Toy Brand that asking me for a review on my blog. They like my blog and content quality! I would like to work with the company because they have the same objective as my blog, it will be good for my readers. The company will send me a free sample to review and they asked if I have my rate. At first, I thought: wow this will be a good idea, not only receiving free gift but also payment, so I Googled to see the standard charges. Some bloggers would write for free thinking that they are still new, some are charging at least $23-50, some bloggers are charging based on their Domain Authority and it can be hundreds to thousands.
My site is still new (5 months old), not having impressive DA, so I would just charge based on the hourly rate, I did the break-down of my rate to the company and provided the percentage of my American audience/ visitors (they specify Americans) in details and lastly after some negotiations, I got the "job" secured at $150! Maybe it is not much but it is my small success. I believe when I have the first brand sponsor, I will get more in the future, then I can determine my better rate. :)

Yay, congrats Jenna. It's a big milestone for you! I don't k ow if you haven't done this, but I'd recommend you to create a media kit about your blog (a brief description + some stats+ your rate -if you prefer ) so that in the future, whenever a company approach you for sponsored post, you have all the numbers ready. I made a mistake by not having one, so when a company approaches me and ask for a media kit for their review, it took me a while to create it haha..! Lesson learnt!
Thank you Rina! yes, it is in my plan, so I have been looking for some good examples of media kit online, however, I feel my site is still new and I do not have much good stats to show yet, probably I will build a basic media kit. Do you have a simple one to share?
