Have you ever thought about contacted a business to try there product for free or obtain something in return "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" in order to promote yo

Hi Jeff, have tried it on several occasions but it has never worked for me. The exchange program did not seem to promising for the business. This is not saying it will not work for others.

Best wishes,
Michael

Thanks Michael, I like the honesty. I am hopefully I can make it work but if not, I will figure it out and come up with something that will.

Years ago I had a niche website in the fitness niche. It received decent traffic and companies reached out to me. I've received free books, shoes, water bottles, etc., to review.

Good to know, Eartha. I believe any company would love have their products promoted for a minimal cost. Just wondered, I do like the idea of building networks and relationships within my niche

I agree. It definitely doesn't hurt to network and build relationships.

We have agreed to write about products on our website if the manufacturer, or website promoter, will let us have it for free in order to test it out. The most expensive so far has been a $500 item.

That's awesome. I believe the idea has been used, but want to reassure myself that is does happen.

I promote ways to reduce personal debt. I have a request for a loan, I was hoping to barter free ads or promote their company in return for a loan.

Good luck with that Jeff! It sounds like a good idea.

In my office business I have, which is indirectly related to my dog website.

The groomer I go to has agreed to showcase my crochet dog harnesses and leashes in her shop because I promote her shop on my website. And I also have referred many customers to her.

Barbara

Good to know, I like the idea helping each other and building a network with others.

Yes, so do I. You Never know when someone in your network will come through in a big way for you.

I agree time management is crucial. I feel without I get no where quick. Been planning my day before it gets away from me. Thanks for the information.

Yes I have a business mentor. We work together on my cash flow and projections for each year.
I'm also big on ROI and invest my time by my hourly rate and work on projects accordingly. Affiliate marketing can be difficult to predict, but I generally work on a 2hr per project basis. So I complete a blog post in 2hours, or I move on to another task to capitalise on my day.

Yes, our time is valuable. I thought about it today when I was reading about budgets, realized I should have a business budget but also plan my time wisely.
I believe now, it will help me stay on track and get really focused.

Absolutely! The minute you create a clear cash flow you'll be much more aware of what you really have to invest, what you need to earn to break even and then profit and your potential annual income. Its an eye opener.

Hey Jeff,

At the moment I am investing in education rather than traffic over the next 3 months, I am setting aside $250 per month for the next three months on training and $150 on design content. I am using as much free traffic as I can get my hands on for now, I need to get smart at paid traffic before I go there.

As far as time investment goes, I am putting in 2 hours early in the morning and 4 hours during the evening, I write content during my lunch break at my job so I’m grinding as much as I can with the time I have.

Hope this helps

Regards

Glen

Yes, it definitely helps. I have been setting time to write content, learning to be more task orientated. I am new so doing more learning as well.
Thanks for the idea on money, planning to put some money towards education right now its on audio books.
All good info

I don't know why I struggle with this so much, in need of some help. Looking for a service company someone is promoting and reviewing?

What part of making a review is what you're struggling with? We might be able to help you better if we know where you get stuck.

If you'd like to see my reviews: https://wastelessplanet.com/reviews

One is for a product, one for a subscription box and one for an online service.

Here where I am stuck. Little different approach to review. I want to interview the company that I am using for my website to promote, ask questions, kind of a different way of writing a review. I wanted to see what others are doing with their reviews to see how they are approaching reviews.
Funny part is I am stalled by picking up the phone, getting the courage, but getting closer to calling.
Love the flow of your website, very nice! Thanks for sharing with me.

Ah, I see: you want more of an interview than a review. A kind of portret of the company, so people know who they'll be dealing with. I like that, great idea! :-)

Here's a few tips that I also give our trainees who want to become a reporter, but are still somewhat insecure to pick up the phone:

- write down a few keywords you want to ask questions about. They can help you focus on what you MUST find out and what you'd LIKE to find out

- ask if they have time to talk to you now. If not: reschedule. You want them relaxed, not in haste, for these kind of interviews

- practice your opening line out loud. You want to sound enthusiastic but not hyper, confident but not arrogant. If you've heard yourself say it once or twice, take a deep breath and make the call; nobody's going to bite ;-)

- start easy, break the ice. Explain what your interview is about and begin with the easy questions. If you like their product, tell them. When your interview partner is at ease, go for the tougher questions

- listen. A good interview is more about listening than asking questions. Pay attention to the answers you get, let people explain what they are saying. Do you need to ask for clarification or explanation? Does their story lead you into a different path you hadn't thought about and give you new angles for your story?

- make it a conversation, not an inquisition. It's just a talk among professionals sharing a common interest: to sell more products together. The company has a passion, they'll probably be thrilled to tell their story to somebody who's genuinely interested

- ask the tough questions too. You need to be the voice of your readers. If the product has weaknesses or you know the negatives other people mentioned, ask the company about it (for instance say: "Some people seem to think that you product... What's your response to that?"). Give them a chance to counter the critique, let them explain their take on the matter. After all, reviews are about the good AND the bad

- ask about new plans. Will there be an upgrade for your product or an add on? Will they launch a whole new product any time soon that could be of interest to you and your readers? If so, could you get the scoop, a trial/review sample or first hand knowledge for a future blog post?

- if the interview went well, and you feel positive about the conversation, you could ask if they want to give you a special promotion offer for your readers. Maybe a special discount code exclusively for your readers to use at check out

I hope this helps you a bit, as a guide line. Remember to enjoy it! It's serious business, sure, but it's also fun to get some inside information, to make new contacts, to learn more about what you're promoting. You've got this! Have fun :-)

I really really appreciate this. Sometimes it is hard to ask for help or admit you don't know something or we get stuck. There is a lot of great stuff here. I share what I write and learn from this with you if you don't mind.
I want to differentiate from the norm, i believe from the feedback I have seen, there is something to take from it. Rather than tell people what they want to hear, why not review a company from the feedback they give.
Thank you!
Jeff

You're welcome. I'm glad you find it useful :-)

You're right: asking for help can be hard for many of us. I know I find it very difficult to do. Which is crazy, because I think it's great that other people dare to ask or reach out to me and most people love to help anyway. I even wrote a blog post about it once, here at WA. So, I feel ya ;-)

But this community and the awesome members of WA make it so much easier to do. No question is stupid. No question is too hard to answer. No question is too much. There's always someone here that answers and provides great solutions. It has made it easier for me to ask for help, both here and in real life. I just have to keep reminding myself that most people love to help and love to share their passion and knowledge.

You know where to find me now, should you need anything else :-)

Best,

Bianca

PS. thanks for the kind words about my website!

Thank you, your help is greatly appreciated. This WA community still amazes me how much help there is, and how much knowledge there is, I'm definitely grateful for it

Honestly, I just use the ones in the training section of our WA training material. Are you looking for something different?

I am using the one as a template. I wanted to be a little different to capture people's attention, not necessarily reinvent the wheel, but add a different touch to what marketers in the finance niche market.
Just curious how others approach the review and see what they have done.

Hi Jeff,

I am a member of the Apiary Fund. This is a Forex training platform. I also did a review of them on my website. I am focusing on making money online so this was appropriate. Here's the link:

Let me know what you think.

Cheers.

Wow, well thought out review. I wanted to differentiate slightly from the training lesson. Not so much reinvent the wheel but capture attention in a different way of what I seen in reviews online.
Thank you for sharing that.

It comes down to providing value to your interested visitor. Putting your own stamp on any article as well as reviews shows originality.

I wrote a blog that addresses three top mistakes that affiliate marketers make. Here is the link. Not being original is one of them.

So what inspires you to keep moving forward? Does it come from your network, upbringing, motivational videos or books, people here in the WA world?
I know there are times w

I think besides that motivation from the you tube videos it all comes from mind set. You can have the encouragement from WA community. But in the end it comes from ourself. Getting to know ourself to stay on course. Is about how we see things and giving meaning to it. I used to see all the set back, quitting demotivate, stress, depress, anxiety, fear, lack of energy as a something that is bad in the past. Now I reframe the negativity, the toughness, the harness, the lack of drive, the failure and flaws as a biggest leverage to excel in life. Is our choice to see the positive site and reframe it as an energy of empowering. The more you resist or the more you think of quitting the more you are getting close to your motivating. Instead of abuse it, nagging, vent it out, blaming or complaining or justified seek it as your level of biggest empowering energy. This is the biggest break though. So when everytime I am down i channel it as my win. Of course you have others thing like good habits my is exercising, disipline, preserverance, endurance and determination. 👍😁💪👏💯😊😀😊

What keeps me motivated. Everytime I start something somewhere along the line something will stop me. Usually it's the idea I'm working with. "So I change the work process" I'm on to a new idea. That keeps me motivated. In essence, one actions have to change. Working on WA, it's very different. It's different technology than a design in architecture or interior design, which I am in. With WA, one is dealing with promotion to a public. To me, I have to figure it, if I don't understand what comes up. Than I get help. Thank God for that. And help comes from WA members who have experienced the ups and downs of this product. So, the game becomes a game of PERSISTENCE.
Kento

Persistence key. The help here is top notch!

Like Dave and Heidi, it is this community that keeps me going. When I stall it is usually because I have a technical issue or content.
So I read some blogs here and ask questions and I can get going again.

Awesome support from lovely friends
Lily 🥰

I agree, the WA community is a great help when its needed.

Jeff, when things get tough in one of my ventures, I pour myself into one of my other ventures, until I figure out a way to iron things out!

Jeff

Sometimes it is good to walk away for a moment and refocus and get back at it. Thanks Jeff

For me, it is a combination of things. My family, inspiring videos of people I follow on YouTube, keeping my goals in mind, and definitely the support offered here on WA.

The people in the WA community are amazing.
