Hello WA Family,

How to start an online store with WordPress is our goal today, we are going to explore an option I have used in the past with Shopify Lite.

Dad-Venture Update

Before we get started, I want to give you an update on Dad-Venture that I have been working on. In only a few days I have created all of my pages, designed my logo, and set up my SEO and Google Analytics. Now I am ready to start writing and publishing content, so that is what I accomplished in a few days.

Setting Up Your Online Store Using Shopify Lite Plan

1. Create a Shopify Lite Account

  • Head over to Shopify's website and sign up for a new account. Shopify Lite offers a 14-day free trial, so you can test it out before committing.

2. Add Products to Shopify

  • Within your Shopify dashboard, you'll add product information like titles, descriptions, images, variants (size, color), and prices.

3. Generate Buy Buttons

  • In your Shopify dashboard, navigate to the "Sales Channels" section. Here, you'll find the option to create "Buy Buttons."

4. Customize Button Design (Optional)

  • Shopify allows you to customize the appearance of the buy buttons to match your website's aesthetic.

5. Integrate Buy Buttons into WordPress

  • Shopify provides a code snippet for each Buy Button.
  • Copy this code.
  • In your WordPress editor, create a new page or edit an existing one where you want to display the product.
  • Paste the Buy Button code snippet into the desired location on your page.

6. Publish and Test

  • Publish the page on your WordPress website.
  • Now, visitors clicking the Buy Button will be directed to a secure checkout process handled by Shopify. Order fulfillment and customer management will also be done through Shopify's interface.

What to Consider

  • While Shopify Lite manages payments and orders, you won't have a full shopping cart experience on your WordPress site. Customers will leave your site to complete the checkout process on Shopify.
  • For a more integrated store experience with features like shopping carts and product browsing directly on WordPress, consider using a dedicated WordPress e-commerce plugin like WooCommerce.

The Shopify Lite plan costs $9 per month. It's a good option if you already have a website and just want to add buy buttons for specific products without the need for a full-fledged online store.

Final Thoughts

This is a very easy method to not only add an online store to your website, but you can also get into dropshipping at the same time. This is very easy to do for anyone interested in adding an online store on your WordPress website to promote dropshipping products.

I hope this was helpful,

Jeff

Hello Tim

I am happy that you found another one of my posts worthy of bookmarking for later use

Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Just adding this as an alternative to Shopify.
If you want to set one up through WordPress you can use a plugin called Sure Cart. While not as comprehensive as Woo-Commerce, it is quite easy to set up, Integrating your payment processors and adding products is not at all difficult or overly time consuming.
It has free and paid versions.

Thanks for sharing, Mick

I appreciate you sharing the Sure Cart plugin, I have used WooCommerce but I never used this plugin.

Easy to set up is always a bonus,

Jeff
