New PageSpeed Insights
I think it is awesome that WA has added this as another tool to help us manage our online business! However, it's not so great when your analysis looks like this.
Even the Affiliates And Earnings Disclaimer is slow. No images on that page.
I have optimized all images through EWWW Image Optimizer but still get the slow speeds.
So let's look at a page I just published yesterday using SiteContent. I uploaded all images except the affiliate images through Amazon before I published. The one I am showing is 5 Restless Leg Syndrome Home Remedies. As you can see, it is 67 for desktop and 64 for mobile. Let's see what google has to say.
Now let's look at each thing. Images first ( I thought these had been optimized)
And the next? Caching and expiry date?
And last but not least is Enable Compression
I guess, I don't understand what the last two are and don't know how to fix them.
Maybe it is my theme. I have disable plugins and it had no effect. I see some are Amazon ads but how do you optimize those? I'm stumped.
Anyone know how to fix some of this stuff or I hope there is some training coming soon to help us that are clueless on how to fix.

OMG Jean!
Thanks for letting me know about this post, mine just went out a few minutes ago. I wish I could help you.
I lowered a couple of my images for the 'above the fold' issues but the rest I don't know how to fix them either!
Those are all related to plugins and widgets that you have on your website.
It appears that the biggest culprits in terms of PageSpeed load times are Amazon widgets, ShareASale widgets and the social widgets.
A few images could be further optimized as well. Do you have SiteSpeed turned on?
Yes, I do. I took care of a few widgets and it increased slightly. But how do you optimize the widgets from your affiliates or Amazon?
You sometimes can't, it is relying on their "technology" that is sitting on your page and there is nothing you can do to speed it up.
You could not use their widgets and use text links, this will speed it up. But you don't want to compromise user experience, design or conversions in the 70's isn't horrible.
I usually keep my websites simple, but when you start adding other technology that sits on your website, it will slow down your content load and of course PageSpeed.
I agree. But what about the "browser caching and the "enable compression" Have no idea how to fix this. I have compressed images down as far as they will go with EWWW. Don't think I can compress anymore.
Hello and yes I am doing it now and getting GREAT results I will write a blog and post later OK

Thanks, Leanne! I hate restless leg syndrome!
When I first met my boyfriend I said it´s like I´m Irish dancing which he found hysterical! It still makes him chuckle even now nearly 8 years later. :)
