Top Questions from New WA Members (And My Answers!)

I've spent numerous days thinking of my next blog. And after recent days, I've discovered through CHAT mostly some of the issues. It's the same thing over and over, and THAT IS OK! Starting your journey with Wealthy Affiliate (WA) is like stepping into a treasure trove of opportunities—but let’s face it, it can be a little overwhelming at first. As a seasoned member who’s been through the ups and downs, I often see new members ask the same burning questions. So, I’ve compiled some of the top questions from newcomers and shared my insights to help you hit the ground running!

1. How Long Does It Take to See Results?

This is probably the number one question on everyone’s mind. The answer? It depends. Results in affiliate marketing vary based on factors like your niche, the quality of your content, and your consistency.

My Advice:

  • Treat this like a marathon, not a sprint. It might take 3-6 months to see your first sale and a year or more to achieve consistent income.
  • Focus on creating high-quality, helpful content for your audience. The more value you provide, the faster your results will come.
  • Stay consistent. Set weekly goals and stick to them, whether it’s publishing blog posts, promoting products, or engaging with your audience.

2. What Niche Should I Choose?

Ah, the niche dilemma! Many beginners get stuck here, fearing they’ll choose the “wrong” niche.

My Advice:

  • Start with something you’re passionate about or curious to learn more about. It’s easier to create content when you enjoy the topic.
  • Check for monetization opportunities. Are there affiliate programs, products, or services you can promote?
  • Validate your niche by researching audience demand. Use tools like Google Trends or WA’s Keyword Tool to assess interest.

3. How Does Google Indexing Work, and When Will My Site Be Indexed?

Google indexing can feel like a mysterious process to new members. Essentially, it’s how Google discovers your website and includes it in search results.

My Advice:

  • Submit your site to Google Search Console to speed up indexing.
  • Publish high-quality content consistently. Google loves fresh and valuable content.
  • Be patient. A brand-new site might take weeks or months to gain traction, but the effort will pay off.

4. Is the Free Membership Enough to Get Started?

This is a common concern for new members hesitant about upgrading to Premium.

My Advice:

  • The free membership is a great way to test the waters. You can build one website, access Level 1 training, and get a feel for the platform.
  • However, upgrading to Premium unlocks hosting for 10 websites, advanced training, live webinars, and a wealth of tools that make scaling your business much easier.
  • Consider the free tier as a “starter pack” and Premium as the full “business toolbox.”

5. What’s the Best Way to Get Help When I’m Stuck?

Feeling stuck can be frustrating, but the WA community is here to help!

My Advice:

  • Use the “Live Chat” feature for quick answers from experienced members.
  • Post your question in the “Ask a Question” section. Be specific about your problem to get actionable advice.
  • Take advantage of the search bar to find tutorials, blog posts, or training on your topic.
  • Don’t hesitate to reach out to your mentor or upline if you have one.

6. How Do I Drive Traffic to My Website?

Traffic is the lifeblood of any online business, and it’s a common question among new members.

My Advice:

  • Focus on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) by targeting low-competition keywords.
  • Share your content on social media platforms to reach a wider audience.
  • Engage with other bloggers in your niche through comments or collaborations.
  • Create a content schedule to publish consistently. More content equals more chances to rank.

7. How Much Can I Earn with Affiliate Marketing?

The earning potential in affiliate marketing is almost limitless, but it’s directly proportional to the effort you put in.

My Advice:

  • Start with realistic goals. Your first $100 might take a few months, but once your site gains authority, your earnings can scale exponentially.
  • Diversify your income streams by joining multiple affiliate programs and exploring different niches.
  • Treat your website as a business. Reinvest earnings into tools, advertising, or additional training to accelerate growth.

8. How Do I Stay Motivated?

The entrepreneurial journey can be tough, especially when results aren’t immediate.

My Advice:

  • Celebrate small wins, like publishing your first post or getting your first comment.
  • Set achievable milestones and reward yourself when you reach them.
  • Surround yourself with supportive people. Engage with the WA community to stay inspired.
  • Remind yourself why you started. Whether it’s financial freedom, travel, or family time, keep your “why” front and center.

Pretty good answers to burning questions, Jeremy.

However, please clarify that Premium Plus+ is the full business toolkit here, not Premium.

What you've presented here can help many affiliates to progress on their journey.

Thank you for this thoughtful share.

Happy Holidays!

Maxine :)

You're absoluely correct! Good catch. Even upon revision I didn't remember to add that "plus", plus the '+' ! :)

No problem, Jeremy. All good now.

Maxine :)

Nice post

Well done just note one part you mentioned with upgrading
"Premium unlocks hosting for 10 websites,"
note premium is websie bu premium plus is so you will need to correct that so starter don't think they have been given the wrong information.

Andre

I have been pointed out that error. Thank you ;) I tried to edit it, but it seems I'm having trouble doing so.

Open you blog then next to the share button you will see a cogwheel click that and there will be an edit button click that then fix what you need and click published again

Andre

Tried this but it keeps showing blank on my end. I'd have to copy paste the material again?

If you copy and paste then you would need to edit as you can't see the cogwheel that won't help
Perhaps let Kyle know to check it out

These are good answers to good questions. We should create an FAQ somewhere. There are three other questions that we get all the time that are pretty vague and I wish we had Pat answers to as well

Why isn’t this free?
What do I do? Or I need help?
How do I make money?

I know. I've seen those too.. I wish I would have jotted them down and added to this post. I wonder if maybe somewhere down the lines, an AI chatbot will be introduced to this platform? The pro is that it could steer new users down the right path (not like that's not getting done already). The con(s) are it would eliminate the live chat, which I feel is beneficial, and it would take Kyles job away from always being there too...

hmmmm you've opened up my brain with thoughts today! :)

Check this out...

You can run a small LLM locally. So take all of Kyle's good answers to "dumb" questions and put them into documents. Then have it answer questions... it's possible to run this on a macbook with 16 GB so wouldn't be a huge VM to do this.

All good thank you.
I just had cataract surgery.
They do only one eye at a time.
Why don't they do both?

Thanks for the comment! Wow, cataract surgery—sounds like you're on the path to clearer vision. 😊 As for why they only do one eye at a time, it’s usually a precaution. If there are any complications (which are rare, thankfully), it’s better to have one eye unaffected. Gives you time to adjust and heal properly before moving on to the second. I've had family members go through it! Wishing you a speedy recovery for both eyes! 👁️👁️
