45 Today — And Still Building

Today’s my birthday.
And honestly? It doesn’t feel much different than yesterday, but in a good way.

I woke up grateful. Grateful to be here. Grateful that last night’s tomahawk steak didn’t take me out. And grateful that life, while still very much a work in progress, feels like it’s finally moving in the direction we envisioned years ago.

There’s no big celebration planned. Maybe a little exploring, maybe a Japanese-style meal later, some time near the water. Nothing flashy. Just being present where we are right now.

And that feels like progress.

A few years ago, this whole journey looked very different. We were locked into Canadian winters, tight budgets, and that constant mental loop of “this will pay off eventually.” We didn’t have financial freedom... we had faith. And a lot of patience.

Fast forward to today, and while the bank account isn’t overflowing, something has shifted. We’re living in Costa Rica. We’re working remotely. We’ve built systems. We’ve built momentum. The freedom we imagined back then is starting to feel real, not because everything is “done,” but because the direction finally makes sense.

That’s the part I’m proud of.

I’m proud of the websites built from scratch.
Proud of the skills learned the long way.
Proud of sticking with it when momentum disappeared.
Proud of the people around me who never stopped believing in this path.

And honestly, proud of not quitting when it would’ve been easier to do so.

If there’s one thing I don’t want to repeat, it’s losing momentum. That stop-start cycle can drain you fast. This year, the goal is simple: keep moving forward. Keep stacking small wins. Keep the rhythm going.

I can feel it! There's that quiet sense that things are lining up. Not overnight success. Just real progress. The kind that compounds.

So here’s to another year of building, learning, and staying the course.
