Welcome to my profile page here at Wealthy Affiliate!

I have decided to use my profile page to help WA members with their websites, instead of just talking about me.

You all know the story…needed income…wanted a change…decided to work-from-home…enough said!

As we all know, early on, when we tend to know the least, we make the 2 biggest single decisions that will significantly determine how quick and easy (or long and difficult) earning from our websites will be.

I am of course speaking about the niche and the domain name.

If you would like help with your niche and/or domain name, then I would suggest you reach out for assistance before you spend your money on domain names and commit your time to a niche.
.
Also, if you are interested in using G+ to boost your website rankings by growing a powerful Google Plus following, then visit the following training here at WA:

Google Plus Traffic Training Modules A-C and the extra (some day there will be a Module D...i think), can be found through the links on the lower right hand side of this profile page...above: View JChrisA's Training.

If you have other questions, just send me a private message here at WA and we will get together on it.

I’m following you all the way to success!

Hello this is Jill Whiting and I just got my Google plus account up and running and when I put in wealthy affiliate there is an ad that shows up with the url of WA . In the training we should have a circle for WA members but I guess we should stay away from the word "Wealthy Affiliate" is that correct as I am very confused with trying to get this started. I seen messages coming up on my computer that said members from WA following me but I do not know where they went on G+. When you have time would you please help me put my head back on straight. Thank you and have a excellent day

Hello, Jill…you are covering a lot of different topics there. G+ like all the various social media is different from your following on WA, but at the beginning will be mostly WA as you try to build your social media following.

Social media should not be viewed, in my opinion, as a place to make “sales” whether it is WA or any other product. I think when you have been at it for awhile you will see the lack of sales from it proving this point. Rather social media is about better rankings in the search engines, and the resulting increase in traffic to you website making additional sales.

Virtually no one will buy from us directly from social media and only a small percent will visit your website from social media, and only a tiny group of those visitors will ever buy. So, what’s the point? Social media is about competition for ranking on Google.

Avoid “Wealthy Affiliate”? Yes, for the most part. Direct mention and links to WA should be avoided. Believe me, I’ve tried it both ways. As Kyle teaches, concentrate your affiliate links including WA links to a few core or central sales pages on website, then write blog posts or small articles with not affiliate links in them, but only links to your central or core sales pages. WA should be directly mentioned on your sales pages, but not on your short articles or posts.

Only post your short articles on social media with invitations or call to actions asking people to visit your site to read or learn more. All of these things and a whole lot more is covered in the WA training as you go along.

These search engines don’t really like affiliate links that much, so this method minimizes this problem, while still allowing you to funnel interested people to your affiliate links. But, again, sales are not the main goal with social media, ranking is, so we don’t want to be too direct with our affiliate links on G+ or another other media platform.

Hope that helps.

You are off to solid start, Barb!

Here are a couple steps you can take to make quick and high impact improvements to your site;

First, I would suggest upping the size of the font or type you are using for you body text. What you have there looks like the standard 11 or 12...16 is highly recommended, although I like 18 also.

This is usually done: 1) using the capability to choose font size in setting up your particular theme, or if your theme doesn't make it easy to do, then you would need to 2) change the values for the standard body text in the HTML code or 3) try different alternative editor plug-ins for WP until you find one you like that has that ability built into it.

Second, be consistent with your page layout format...for example: if you have text wrapping around your images on one page, then do them all that way...if you want the images centered with white space to either side, then make them each post that way.

There is a plug-in called "duplicate post" which copies a previous article as a new draft...this way you can use it as a template...refine an article until the format is how you would like your pages or posts to be, then copy it each time...replace the old title, text and images with the new ones for the next article...then publish...makes it easy by already having a standard closing with your signature, as well as banners and dividers between paragraphs already in place, rather than having to find and insert them with each new article.

Third...use pretty links for your affiliate links, like to your "market" site and invite the customer to "learn more", or see "your recommendation", or "get details"...then, make your pretty link read: "learn more", "your recommendation", or "get details" as appropriate. This encourages more click-through.

Hope that helps! :)

Thank you so much for the follow. I have one little issue that came up recently. I found that I have somehow added a password to my posts on my website. My problem is that I do not know where to go to cancel the password so that others can comment on those posts. Any help to me would be appreciated.
Reply
JChrisA Premium
Easy...just go to the page(s) where you are having this issue in the word press editor...be sure you are logged-in as administrator, then right below where your "save as draft" button is, un-check the radial button that says password protection...:)

Hi there!

Excellent use of your profile page! I've always been somewhat uncomfortable with the standard use of profile pages.. I'm not one to play "Hearts and Flowers" on the violin while pouring out my tale of woe to strangers. I may have to follow your lead and re-purpose mine!

Definitely following you!

I'd like your opinion on my website and some of my concerns are listed below:

I am frustrated because I have my website established (beautyforseniorwomen.com) but cannot figure how to get Amazon products to show up under the individual catagories of my website. I desperately need help in order to fix this problem. I feel that I might already be selling products if I knew how to get this going. Please URGENT HELP!!!! Also, when I pull it up in Google it looks as if someone may be trying to copy my format. Can that happen?
Reply
JChrisA Premium
Hi...as for copying your format, I am not exactly sure what you mean...what is your evidence exactly...what are you specifically seeing?

On Amazon, I am going to have to refer you to some here that are the experts at it, as I live in a place where Amazon doesn't operate, due to Nexus laws...we cannot be Amazon affiliates here, so of course I haven't bothered with it much. Here are some top members I know of who should be able to answer your questions and help you solve your problems:

HI Chris,

I have been in touchwith one.com. I received a form to fill in but some IPs have been requested in front of each nameserver of WA. nameserver ns1.mywahosting.com and IP and for the second nameserver with IP. Can you help with the IPs requested for each please. Please check the screen shot of that form.

Thanks

I do not know what screenshot or form you are speaking of...I would suggest asking the community if anyone here has had dealings with one.com and how they handled getting their domains pointed at WA servers...if it comes down to it, then if this is a domain you own and registered with one.com, you can just transfer it outright to WA and that will fix the problem.

Good Info! Thank you! I have websites I use for what I do. And on its page it ranks 1,2,and 3 but I am sure it is not a keyword someone searches for unless it is by access to one of my FB, or personal contact or G+. So should I use a domain name that is similar to all my sites and pages and connect them or go for a new niche to start with?
Reply
JChrisA Premium
You would only go to a new niche if you are tired of doing what you now do...that is one thing...the other things are strategies for implementing whichever niche you decide on, whether it is the old one or a new one.

The strategies you follow may vary somewhat depending on the niche. This is why at WA you will need to settle on a niche before choosing domain names, building websites or anything else.

Hope that helps! :)

Hi Chris...Live chat isn't working for me so I thought that you may have an answer for me. I'm in the process of setting up my web site and I'm at the part to select my theme, however when I click"Ready To Build A Website" I get the message "Please correct the errors highlighted in red." I don't find any errors noted in red. What to do?
Reply
JChrisA Premium
Hi, David...Here are some questions to consider: 1. Are you selecting a domain name you have already purchased or using a siterubix.com domain?

If it is siterubix.com then the domain is probably not the problem. If it is your own domain name, did you select the right hand button and then did your domain name appear in the drop down box where you could choose it?

If so, then did you type in a name for your website in step 2? (you can always change it later)

If so, then in step 3 did the theme you picked stay highlighted when you selected it? (you can always change the theme later when you begin building your site...it is easier to view the themes from inside the Site Manager.

If that seems to all be okay, the you might want to try the process using a different browser, especially if you are using FireFox...or try clearing the cookies/cache and re-log into WA and try again.

Hope that helps. :)

What a generous idea, JChrisA! My website is lifebuiltpoems.com. Please do take a look at it and see whether it would work for this strategy of yours.

I am not promoting WA currently, mostly because I'm settling into my niche and trying to get the direction aimed right. I've been at it since July, 2016, and I think my content's interesting and lively. Trying different formats. Feels like fly-fishing. Sheesh!

I'm trying to tackle your training modules for Google+ again. I do have the thing set up. The link is: https://plus.google.com/109122242691172412052. Still working on how to improve numbers of followers.

Hi there and thank you for your follow and you're interest.I am now 6 months at WA but have lost more than half of that time for varying reasons and its been an uphill task to get back into it every time.Perhaps you could look at my site and give me your opinion.Content has been my biggest challenge. My site is lowbackmaintenance.com
Reply
JChrisA Premium
Since you say content is your biggest challenge, I will focus there mostly, but 2 quick points, first...I would categorize your blogs...when in the editor where you compose your posts, at the upper right hand side is where this is done. Second, I would place your picture at the upper right in the right hand column with an invitation to "Meet the Author"...this appears then on every main page and lends personality and credibility...like the clean white theme, as it lends itself well to health medical related topics.

Now for the content...there are essentially 3 sources for this type of site: 1. your personal experience...2. medical and natural health experts (in other words: some expertise beyond your own) and ...3. reviews of products (obviously, you have to make money sooner or later from your site).

I wouldn't worry about 3, until you have good traffic and established credibility, so focus on 1 and 2.

1. Your experience: the people that do the best are those that ARE the model of what they teach...write about more than just your "past"...turn it into a present journey and flesh it out as though it were an ongoing instructional video...make videos, in fact...write an ebook...especially in 2 or more parts (you may want to use intro videos and ebooks to sell the subsequent chapters (they may only bring a few bucks each, but 1,000 of sales could really add up)...become the Jack LeLain or Arnold Schwartzeneggar of the back maintenance world.

2. A lot of people don't think of this because to most it runs counter-intuitive to what we feel should be right. Let's face it, this is as much medical as it is natural medicine. It is about being credible as an expert...but, most people mistakenly think it is about being a doctor or not a doctor and that's the end of it...not so.

Most think if they link to authority sites then they are simply going to route traffic to those sites and end up with nothing...again, not so.

There is a way to do it and a way not to do it.

DON'T: make statements referring to authority sites work or studies, then invite the reader to find out more by clicking to that site.

DO: cite authority sites but take the extra effort to put their essential info into your own words, as though the reader has what they need to know right there and needn't look any further...never ask them to click away from your site, instead make them want to keep reading your post to the end.

DON'T: when you cite the authority, put obvious links to that authority site...instead of giving a url like mayoclinic.org...say Mayo Clinic

DO: add a link to the authority site as the more you do this the better ranked your pages will be, but make the linked words the exact same color as the body text, no underlines, no bolds...exactly like the rest of the text, so that the reader would have to mouse over it to know it is a link...the search engines won't know any different than if you had made it bright red and flashing, but the reader is very unlikely to identify the link and click away, especially if you have 1. given them enough of the info in your own words and 2. not invited them to click away.

This gives you endless content potential, as every article and study ever done is potentially a blog post...this technique also allows you to add even dozens of such links to each article...the more, the better the ranking, with fear of losing your audience.

Hope this helps. :)

Hey Chris,

I have been off and on with being an affiliate, and I would really like a mentor that could help keep me going. I dont know how to find one here, so I thought I would ask around.

Anyhow, I also would like to know if I can get a good income: 10k monthly by being an affiliate?
Reply
JChrisA Premium
It is possible to earn that much...the hotter the niche is, the more likely and the sooner that could happen. This is also about learning and applying the skills one has learned...the better you are at that, the more you can earn: It can be challenging to find a dedicated mentor, as so many of us are part time ourselves. When I first got here, one of the first things I did was click the blue rank button and send a note to each of the top 200 people, following them and asking them to follow me back...about 90% did.

Then, as I worked I kept the chat room up and asked for help every step along the way as I needed it...I got to know which ones currently on chat were the best tech geeks and which ones were the best writers.

These are the 2 best ways I know to get mentoring help, as it doesn't put all of the task on one person's back...also, do what you can yourself, then be ready to ask very specific questions...that will get you the best answers the soonest and the easiest.

Hope that helps. :)

You are off to a really good start! One of the next steps I would take is to begin populating your home page by posting blog articles...in your WordPress site manager you will see on the left side menu, options for pages and for posts...you write them both the same way, but the posts option will fill in the home page with a scrolling list of your blogs.

One of the easiest ways to accomplish this, is whenever you are writing a page, also write a teaser or introduction to get the reader interested...make that your blog, then link it to that page...basically, that gives you 2 pages for the price of one on your site...just be careful not to duplicate content and give each its own unique title or name.

Keep up the good work! Hope that helps! :)

Hi Chris,

Thank you so much for following me. I am delighted to be among your connections.

Like you, customer service, tech service (at Sony) and call centers have been most of my more recent life with medical billing being the bulk of my working life.

I wish you all the best.
