Okay, Time to Take Another Stab at This!

This is a goal post. And for you football fans, sorry I don't mean that kind of goal! lol :)

There's always a flurry of New Year oriented posts in the last week of December and the 1st week of January, so I decided wait a bit before throwing my towel into the ring. But, not just for that reason.

I have just been really busy.

A lot of that activity has to do with WA indirectly in that following my yearly renewal (1st time at the Black Friday Sale price...Yeah!) I have been putting together my plan for an entire next year's worth of focus and effort.

Like most people coming into WA for the first time (a little over a year ago for me) my first set of yearly goals were sky high. Nothing wrong with that. When you don't know much about it yet, way too high is as good as anything else.

But, I think 2nd year goals should be real. They should have reach built into them, but they need to be real...reality.

Over the last month or so, I have been overhauling the organization (and to a lesser degree, the presentation) of one of my websites, and now that this remodel is pretty much finished, it's back to regular posting of content.

By this time next year, it is my goal to make this the #1 authority site in its niche...period. There will be a gradual, but tasteful monetizing process on this site as we go. :)

I also have a goal to flip at least 1 domain (actually a small set of related domains) sometime within this year. If that goes well, then I may add more flips to that goal. I have put together an interesting concept to do this which involves some lightweight website building, so my 3rd goal is to use this website build as the basis for starting all over again with the WA certification course and getting all the way through it this time...I mean all the way!

My last stated goal is to overhaul another website...not sure what I will do with it when it is done...might keep it...might flip it...we'll see.

That's it!

1. Build a #1 authority site in my niche.

2. Flip a domain.

3. Be an authority on website business building through the WA courses.

4. Overhaul another existing site.

Note: I intentionally didn't list a dollar goal. I didn't even list a sales quota goal! I do intend to make money, but any goals I would set like that would either be pure speculation, wishful thinking, or even worse yet, enslave me to nothing more than a manipulating game to squeeze the traffic numbers in Analytics. Those tools are useful, but Google Analytics is not my niche! lol :)

A well defined set of goals (and well reasoned plans to get there) is not the same thing as a new year's resolution. Kyle was right in his post about what's wrong with making resolutions. Real goals need to be backed up with real plans.

Although it isn't really the new year yet, for me, it was/is the right time to layout a year's worth of plans for Wealthy Affiliate and our (my wife Carla and me) online success.
