I Love Birthdays!

I love Birthdays and the celebration of Birthdays. My family always made a big deal out of everyone's Birthday and we had so much fun planning each party. My mom, dad and I were all Virgo's. My mom's mom was a Virgo too. My Dad was August 28th, my grandmother's was September 5th, mine is September 9th and my mom's was September 10th. So as you can see I just celebrated mine and it was a bit of a milestone. I always celebrate for more than 1 day too. Until my mom passed we always celebrated our Birthdays together (as long as we were in the same state). My friends loved her so they always expected her to be at a Birthday Brunch or something. When I was on tour with The Buddy Holly Story and my mom was visiting in Toronto, they threw us both a party.

I turned 21 while performing with my band at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland. They threw me a surprise party and brought a huge cake onstage while I was singing. Besides the parties my parents threw for me, I think that one in Greenland and the one with the Buddy Holly cast were the only 2 that someone else planned. I usually do the planning for myself and it's just expected that I will. And I throw great parties! Whether it's for myself or a friend, boyfriend or family member, I go all out to make it special. I had a couple of Birthdays while performing on Cruise Ships, part of 2 were spent at Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona, CA (I say part because many of my birthday celebrations have 2 or 3 events that happen in the day), One year, my friends Grace and Yuki, went with me to Sycamore Mineral Springs in San Luis Obispo, CA for a couple of days (Heavenly). Many Birthdays include Massages, Brunches, Dinners and House Parties. All filled with great people, lots of fun, love and food!

This year I slept in late, then off to Willow Spa in Santa Monica, CA for a SPAvacado Retreat.

I added 15 mins to the massage. Needed a full hour! My friend Grace, who is a manager at Willow Spa, surprised me by paying for the massage. (What a good friend!) The foot soak and massage provided some much needed relaxation. The facial was relaxing as well, but also invigorating for my skin. After the treatments I felt like a Million Bucks! AH, Birthday Pampering, I'll take it every time.

Dinner included a variety of friends and was at El Toritos Mexican Restaurant in Marina del Rey. It was Taco Tuesday-All you can eat Tacos for $9.99 at the table. Plus they have a great Rewards program and I could get a $12.99 entree for free! There was a ton of mouthwatering food along with an abundance of chatter and laughter. Gloria's homemade Carrot Cake was brought out with a ton of candles and everyone sang an exuberant rendition of Happy Birthday. A fun time was had by all, especially me!

Thank you letting me share some Birthday love with you. I have plenty of pictures to document this wonderful Birthday. I'm excited about what I will plan for next year. Birthdays are special, so I wish everyone out there a Happy Birthday with as much joy as I always have on mine!
