Couple quick questions:
-- Were you able to find 2 - 3 sites that you believed were successful and how close were you able to mimic their success? Layout? product appropriateness? Social media links?
-- What is your website so that I might be more helpful?
Oh, that's a good idea: look at other sites in the niche to see their layouts and if any using this style. Thanks. I will check that out.
Broaden a bit. It doesn't have to be just in your niche. Find the best sites out there and (in a flattering way) copy them.
I see: doesn't have to be niche specific necessarily. But start looking at successful sites to see how they've done it and if appropriate for my intent/products. Thanks a lot.
Right, that's what the style is (masonry). Yes, the home page shows a bunch of posts with prominent images and post title and a little text (first couple of sentences of the post) under each. Glad to hear you don't think it's a major cause of putting people off. So I can concentrate on evaluating other potential problem areas. Thanks a lot.

Is it a poor choice to use a pinterest-style theme?

Content is what driving the traffic.
Visual images are great add-ons but still content is what make people stay.
You made me think there for a minute. On Pinterest, the images are the content. I just looked at it and realized the people (pinners) tend to do a poor job with the text. Interesting. Thanks.

Hi, I worked on a website for the last 6 months, following another method (spent a few hundred dollars for the online workshop that taught the method of developing an Amazon af
That sounds like a good idea. Don't dump a site you've put a lot of work into. Perhaps you just need to improve the posts you've already written there and create some new longer ones with good keywords.
" ... need to improve the posts you've already written there and create some new longer ones with good keywords." This is what I'm going to work on. I'll read through the training for best practices. Thanks a lot.
Hi,
I think you have definitely come to the right place to learn the proper way to build a successful website.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people selling these workshops that teach these (shortcut) methods. They might work for some but there is no guarantees.
With WA, if you follow the lessons and take action after each one you will reach success, and that goes for 99% of people who come here.
You already have a website with content which is a bonus, now just go through the lessons here on WA and use them to learn to improve the site.
Good luck!
You said it correctly: "...there are a lot of people selling these workshops that teach these (shortcut) methods. They might work for some..." Ha, ha on me!
"... learn to improve the site" rather than dumping it, is probably the better option.
I appreciate your input.
We've all been there Jane, don't worry about that.
You are a Wealthy Affiliate now!
We don't teach shortcuts here, only success.
Improving your current website is probably the way I would go, or even start a fresh site but in the same niche.
Welcome to the best affiliate marketing community online!
Have to second Davids opinion.
Took me years to realize the shortcuts don't work...
Started WA... The so called 'non-shortcut' method and funny enough, had I found it back then, WA would probably have saved me a lot of wasted time and money.
You are in the right place to build your online business.
Stick with the training and complete the tasks. You'll do great!
Remember to reach out if you ever need a hand.
Cheers,
Marc Parsons
Funny thing: I didn't know enough at the time to see it was a "shortcut" method... until just recently when I thought: $'s and 6 month used up, I better reevaluate this.
Shows how a lot of people can be led astray, losing time and money trying things.
Thanks a lot.
