Getting Back To Normal?

Life truly has been interesting this year, but is it finally getting back to normal? I am not even sure as to where to begin to explain my recent journey through life, but for I thought I should drop a blog here for those that have followed along with me.

The 9 to 5...

Towards the end of last year I had decided that I needed to start looking for a better 9 to 5 job. I needed better income and a much more sane work environment. I had 6 years of experience now in my field and it was time to put that to use on the old resume.

After a few months of searching I found an opportunity with a State Farm Agency much closer to home. Not only was it located better, the base pay was better and still had commissions too! So as of the beginning of March, I moved on to this next step in my career.

They always say hind sight is 20/20 and looking back I understand that very well with this job. The writings were on the wall from the first days that I was there that something was amiss, however at the time I just buckled down and worked hard.

A couple days before my 6 month anniversary I was fired. I was shocked as nothing like this had ever happened to me before. Things were going great with sales and the ball had really started to roll, unfortunately it went right off a cliff!

While as shocking as this was to me I was now more determined then ever to move forward. Over the next month I had 5 interviews and 5 job offers, it was pretty amazing. After a ton of careful thought and consideration I took a job with a Farmers agency as a Senior Agent. If I would only produce the average of what I have over the last almost 7 years, I will more than double my income!

One month into the new job and I totally love it. I could not be more happy with my employment right now. I finally feel like I have a career and not just a job.

My Game Board Company

Unfortunately this project ended up moving to the back burner here a bit over the last half year. The State Farm Job was hard and rigid on my time and did not allow any flexibility. Then when I lost the job, I had to put all of my focus on righting the ship.

Never fear though! Now that I have settled into the new job and everything is going well, I have the time to get back to work on my various projects within this business. I am very excited about the process and am eager to create some awesome games, but I do now realize how much of a long term process this will be.

Wealthy Affiliate

I have been slowly getting myself back into working on my sites again. I did a bunch of updating the other week and reviewing what I had already done. I planted the seeds for what needed and could be done in the near future as well.

The next step for me is to sit down and really contemplate on what my plan and goals are to move forward. Obviously these are two very important steps and ones that WA has done a good job of teaching me about.

It still may be a bit until you really see me start to be active here yet, but the time is coming! Until then, keep working it!

Nice to see you back on track.
On my way back too, after a much longer break and ever since I started, 1 month after you, I've been following you as one of my first "following" :) So I hope to see you around when I'm back on track!

I hear yah! Just updated my WA site and even did a blog post the end of last week, so the ball is rolling. My plan is to slowly work my way back in so that I can ease into it and not overwhelm myself.

Looking forward to seeing you around!

Good to see you back here James! I'm glad to hear you're new job is working well for you and you're finding more time to work on your sites again...had been wondering where you've been!

Strange how life works sometimes isn't it...losing the job at one place put you in the position to get the new job where you're actually happy, plus, it sounds like a bit more free time too...things always work out as long as we keep on working at it.

Thanks for sharing and best wishes :) -Sherry

Yup Yup Yup!!! Everything has worked out so much for the better it isn't even funny. So much less stress, so much better pay, so much more!! I always say everything happens for a reason!

Good to hear from you again!

thanks for sharing and i'm glad things are working out! I hope you get the best of both worlds!

That is what I am working for! Your welcome & thanks!

Welcome back JD.

Feels good to be back! Thanks.

You can't keep a good man down! Keep your chin up, James and I'm sure you will succeed.

As am I! Sometimes may be hard to hold that chin up but if you keep working it you will succeed!

Nice to see you back glad the work thing is proving to be the better option, wondered how your iigsaw puzzle venture was going, no doubt you will be back up there once more when you can

Yes I was very happy when I landed my current job. I had some great opportunities to pick from. 1 month in and I could not be happier with it.

Pleased to hear that and I wish you every success with it all

Hi James - I'm glad you've found something you love - and still able to work on your other projects too. Sounds really rewarding.

All the best, Mark

Yeah I agree - pay it forward as they say here - but just be kind... and try to help others - it's a wonderful thing that may come back 10 times over :)

Cheers, Mark

Mark, I was all but ready to leave the insurance field after the State Farm debacle. However I am now a very happy clam at Farmers. Always makes me feel good to help people save money and get the coverage they need to be protected.

I am a firm believer in that.

Welcome back :)

I am really glad that this adventure with jobs turned out so great for you.

Nothing more to say except thanks for letting us know about it. I was wondering a bit where you've gone :)

Life has a funny way of going about things sometimes doesn't it?

I am glad to be working my way back into things and with winter coming that will free up more time too.

See you around!

Good to hear from you again Jaweda :) Don't give up!

Nope never will! I just keep doing what's right because its the right thing to do. Because of that I am in a much better place now. Good to hear from you Cathy!
