Blog writing for beginners, by a beginner!
So, like me, you're very much a beginner to starting your own blog.
It can be a bit daunting (as I know very well) beginning to write you're own blog. In particular, wondering if you have the writing skills to do it and will anyone even read it, I'm no good at writing.
Well, I'm no different to you and have the exact same thoughts.
But my first tip....just start. Write what comes out of your head while your thinking. Have a look around at other blogs to get some ideas on how other people write. Eventually you will find your own style and will all start to flow overtime (That's what I'm telling myself anyway).
But I just thought I would let you know about a handy little free tool I found today, which helped me improve my writing by showing me where I could improve to make my writing easier to read and understand.

It's called Hemingway App or Hemingway Editor, (just google it) its completely free to use on the web or you can purchase the app. I just used the free web page and will probably use that again and again while I'm learning and improving my writing. See the screenshot below of the free web page
All you have to do is copy the content/blog you have written and paste it on to the web page. It will then provide in colour what is deemed hard or difficult to read and/or words that you could change for better impact.
Now, it doesn't tell you how to change your writing. You will need to go through the highlighted sections and either shorten some sentences, remove commas, add fullstops or remove/change words until the colour dissaperars from the text.
I did this today on my 'about me' page, just to test my writing. I wasn't surprised when my content came up with a fair anount of red colouring. Thats how I write, but it made me realise that my sentences were to dense (meaning I was trying to say too much ine one sentence) and were difficult to read.
After spending some time fixing my sentences, replacing a few words, it all read so much nicer. I was quite happy with this.
So give it a try if you're not that great at writing, see what you think. It helped me, maybe it can help you.

Thanks for posting. I tried Hemmingway a while back, but then I switched to ProWritingAid which I found works better. It's active online and stand-alone. It's a yearly subscription and I find it is worth it. I'm improving and eventually will depend on it lass than now.

You're welcome Stacey. You can also use the app/editor for any new blog/content you write. Also, there is no need to fix everything the editor tells you to, as some changes may affect your 'style' or 'voice' that projects into your writing.
