So, What Do You "Speak?"
Hey Everybody,
I thought I would share a thought I had today (I had more than one all day, I swear.)
This is for all who can not think of a niche to write about and make a campaign for. I struggle when I write about things that hold no interest for me as I am sure many of you do. But, when it is something where I "speak the language," I don't even have to think about it. The words flow effortlessly.
I speak fluent Navy, tennis, running, surgery, Iraq trauma medicine, backpacking, and am a novice at a few other dialects (like internet marketing!)
My message to all of you who are struggling to find your niches is to think about your most comfortable lingo, then head over to the Adwords Keyword tool and let it show you some niches.
Of course, when you pick something you are familiar with, your words are more passionate and knowledgeable. It shows to the audience.
I have heard many times, especially from the Bum Marketing guys, that marketing is about having a conversation with a starving crowd. "Speak" their tongue and combine that with keyword research, SEO, and a lot of useful content for a successful marketing formula when starting out.
Thanks for reading and good luck!

I love your languages lol thoughthey are double dutch to me, especially the running! Very true and well put though.
My thoughts exactly Christina. btw, great blog and advice, Jared. I've been a nurseryman for over 10 years. I haven't found many sites that sell plants with affiliate programs. Politics and current events? Doubt there are any out there. I like your line of thought. I mean, someone in the medical profession could write about procedures better than me. Just the same, if you're having problems with you babies in the Garden, give me a shout. The Garden Doctor can probably put you on the straight path.
I have definitely done both - written about topics that I know NOTHING about, and things that I'm passionate about. Funny thing is that the things I'm passionate about don't seem to convert to sales. I guess I need to be more passionate about profitable subjects! LOL. What's great about IM though is that a subject I may not have even thought to care about before is something I end up loving just by thinking about the people I'm trying to reach. You can become passionate about anything. :)
I concur. I agree too. You're way ahead of me, I didn't manage to have one single thought yet and even that hurt.
Right on Jared. It's less like work and more like play when you choose something you love and spend time doing anyway. IM gives you a chance to share you passion with others. In a way you can even change their lives by inspiring them too. Haha, I'm an idealist. Always look at things that way.
Well said Jared :) I do agree with you, this is really something that you should be passionate about!
Thanks, Jared. I like the way you put it in those simple terms: "What do you speak?" Great post--thanks!
Thanks for sharing this great blog! I agree with you 100%. I get asked by members of the WA family worldwide about this subject all the time. I always tell them to pick a niche that is a passion.
