What To Do With Controversy
One of the things that I am wrestling with is how to deal with controversial subjects on a blog post. As I see it, there are top main options. I can embrace the controversy, and attack it head on, while giving facts and evidence in favor of that which is in dispute, or in the interest of preserving my business interests, avoid any and all controversy.
My desire is to avoid politics, since that only creates division, disagreement, and trouble, and yet I wonder if that is always possible. Unfortunately, politics is not just about the federal government, or the state, or the White House, Senate, and so on. Politics is everywhere. You have office politics. There are relationship politics, family politics, and it just goes on and on and on, and navigating all through that can be rather stressful at times, to say the least.
So much has been politicized, even things that really shouldn't have been politicized, or turned into political footballs or minefields, depending on your point of view. Politicized to such an extent, that if something is considered to be politically incorrect, it can hurt you. Facts and evidence do not matter, only emotion or the correct narrative matters. So how do I deal with this? Avoiding most form of politics I have no problem with. But when it comes to health, avoiding controversy might actually be a form of cowardice. Just sharing my thoughts. I welcome any and all input, agreement, disagreement, perspective, outlook, and so on. Let this be a productive day!

I am glad the election is over and it went my direction. :-)
I did not like listening to or reading any negative discussions about it and unfollowed/unsubscribed from a lot of people on Substack and Medium. I just didn't want to see it. The rhetoric just was getting so bad.
Maybe as things calm down and if our economy is revived, politics will not be such as issue for me, but it was just boiling over and even hard to avoid seeing it.
Happy FriSatSu Jon!

I can’t believe some of the rhetoric that has happened. Just so bitter and personal. It just shows you how divided the USA is at the moment. I hope everyone can come together and settle down. Wow.

Hi Jon,
First thing I am going to say is "Controversy sells" be controversial that's what people are looking for.
Politics is also good, its great for debate, it causes LOTS of two way conversations. You can speak freely here in Wealthy Affiliate we are all members of the public, just like you.
As for controversy in health, where do we start? First place that I will start, is that NOBODY should be taking any medication and that there are natural foods and health supplements that can support you and cure you.
I want to tell you a story, when I first joined Wealthy Affiliate nearly three years ago, building a website was proving very difficult for me, it was difficult for me to understand, I had to re-read things a couple of times to try and make it make sense, I then came across an advert for Vitamin B12 supplements to create blood flow to your body and brain, there is no doubt in my mind that taking the vitamin B12 health supplements made me more intelligent and I found it easier to understand what I was doing, I now consider myself an expert in Affiliate Marketing and I am STILL LEARNING.
So, Vitamin B12 supplements will make you more intelligent, NAC will improve your immune system, reducing ALL SUGAR from your diet will reduce inflammation in your body (colds. flu, joint pain, sores, cuts).
I saved my neighbours life when he had cancer, I told him to stop the chemotherapy and do intermittent fasting and remove all sugar from his diet. He is NOW 100% cancer free and is walking around a lot healthier than he was before, using my advice.
If you know somebody that has Parkinsons Disease, tell them to smoke cannabis, it relaxes the body and helps, research it yourself, OR USE CBD oil.
There is quite a lot more that I can tell you but you dont want you to read another 3000 word post, like when you read my long post about how corrupt google is (Go-Ogle = like to look at your personal data). Hahaha
Regards
Brian
Thanks for your input. It is very much appreciated. It is awesome that you saved your neighbor's life by telling him to stop the chemotherapy. I do not trust chemotherapy at all. It has NEVER worked. I should look into NAC as a possible supplement. That is good to know. Thanks!
He stopped it because I said to him, how do you feel after you have had Chemotherapy and he said awful, it drained him, made him tired, weak and took him days to recover.
Well, I dont know about anybody else but why would you continue to do something that is making you feel so bad?
I told him if it is making you feel so drained then stop doing it!
There is a lot of money to be made in the pharmaceutical companies to keep people feeling ill.
Which is what I felt is the direction that your original post was going?
What prompted my post was that I have been thinking about what RFK Jr. has been saying about fluoride. Which I have already known for years. Because RFK Jr is talking about it, all the fact checkers are out in force claiming that he is wrong. Well, all I can say is when I do my own digging, research and taking a look at the facts and evidence, I think RFK Jr. is right. Fluoride should not be made into a political football. But then, the supposed experts feel that they have to control a false narrative in order to exert power and control that they do not deserve. We are dealing with a health issue, and to politicize the situation and manipulate public opinion IMO is just wrong, and corrupt.
Robert is right, Fluoride is NOT good for your body, he most probably knows that because he is a white hat.
I personally use a fluoride free toothpaste by a company called ALOE DENT
I am not sure what country you are in but in the UK we have a store chain called Holland & Barrett, I dont buy vitamins from there because they are SO LOW QUALITY, but I do buy Fluoride FREE toothpaste from there https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/aloe-dent-triple-action-aloe-vera-toothpaste-with-co-q10-60085631, but I walk into the store to buy it.
And YES, corruption and false advertising IS the name of the game, so dont fall for the government and pharmaceutical companies lies.
Create your website and tell everybody the truth and give them some good examples, of why food, nutrition and supplements is the best way to heal the body naturally .
I reside in the USA. Anyway, years ago, I went to a dentist, and he advised me to use a certain kind of toothpaste that had fluoride in it. When I told him that I didn't want to use that toothpaste because it had fluoride in it, he left a message on my phone saying that he didn't think I would be a good client for his business, so that was that. I never saw him again after that. Probably just as well!
Seen "Cannabis" within your comment and it instantly grabbed the gummie kings attention. :)
So many uses. It even makes me smile! Start Slow and Adjust Accordingly! Enough about Cannabis...
As to the question what to do with controversy.
A former member here taught me many things. His name I will not mention but if you was to guess Phil1944 you may be right. Or you may not!
Anyway, one of the things he educated me on was the polarization of your audience. It divides your audience into 2 subgroups with opposing views that you can attack individually with additional content. Politics being an excellent example. This split has created opportunities numerous times creating a sub niche. You just need to walk a fine line and not tick them off, just hit them hard enough to open a discussion about the topic.
Michael
Hi Michael,
Cannabis is very good for you, I dont smoke it myself but I do sometimes take CBD oil which is a by product of Cannabis.
You can mention @phil1944 if you want, he is still a current member.
Everybody loves politics even if they say that they dont.
We have newspapers and online information papers in the UK and I have noticed that when the online papers create a headline attacking a certain group of people it creates lots of attention, this is known as a trigger post, that angers people and they feel the need to comment and say their view.
From an SEO perspective, trigger posts create more internet traffic, more engagement and continuing engagement for months/years to come.
In my original reply I did say that "Controversy Sells" and it does.

Hi Jon!
I agree about politics. We all have our own opinions, some of which have been shaped by the media, which has an agenda. It's very divisive, especially here in the US these days.
Now, health, on the other hand, if factual, states the facts to help others attain better health and well-being.

Thanks for sharing! This is uneasy and complicated subject I am afraid.
Politics is one of the hardest, I am not from USA. But I worry about safety of Europe after what USA elected. Some even planning to leave the country worried of war.
Honestly, conflicts I dislike, hard for me to deal with as I want peace and unity. Maybe this is why I always choosing to be diplomatic of how I do things.
I am trying to look on positive things but most time maybe I am hiding :) Thanks for sharing again! Have a great and productive day to everyone!
