Day 6 - Learn How to Build a Website Yourself in WordPress 2017

Hey there and a Big Welcome to Day 6 of Learn How to Build a Website Yourself in WordPress 2017 – let’s keep this momentum up!

Yesterday we completed Day 3 of Jays 4 Part video series and today we’re on Part 4 as linked below:

Here’s a recap on what we did yesterday – Day 5:

• Optimized our Meta Title and Meta Description for SEO on our About page

So let’s get into today’s tasks…

Content, Content & More Content

Step 1: Talking About Our Niche

Inside of Jays research for his niche (he calls it a micro niche) he’s going about creating reviews for the top product in induction cookware within 3 price ranges – A product under $100, a product between $100 and $500 and a product $500 and over.

In my niche there are a number of brands that I will be reviewing with different features and this is where I will come from within my reviews. I will also be looking at user reviews in Amazon and incorporating some of the information of those reviews on my site.

Jay put across this point about who we are inside of the reviews / information that we create …

People rely on the internet to help them to make up their mind on a product and it’s your job to help them to make that choice – you tell them that ‘this is the one’ that you want to buy because of these reasons – and then you list the reasons why!

You’re the influencer here and you get to tell your visitors that ‘this is the best product’ for their price point, for their needs etc., because you’ve done the research for them.

AND, you actually make sure you’ve really done the research for them!

It’s pretty simple really!!

Step 2: Adding Content to Our Pages

Today we’re going to be covering more on adding content. Jay starts with the Home page but only goes part way through the training and completes it later on.

We’re going to start with the part of the training that he completes and come back to the Home page later, most likely tomorrow as I can see that this training is quite extensive …

So …

Contact Page / Contact Form 7

Jay goes through a process of putting the Contact Form 7 plugin on his site – this isn’t something I'll be doing as I'll have all of my details on my Contact Page and my visitors can contact me directly through my email.

Contact Form 7 is a way to create a contact form on your site, which your visitor will fill in the following details:

• Their Name
• Their Email Address
• Their Subject
• And Their Message

This is quite a process to follow and if you wish to have a Contact Form on your site you can see the whole process starting at 34:30 mins – 39:16 mins inside of Jays training.

If you don’t create the Contact Form 7 make sure you have your contact details on your Contact page.

Privacy Policy

With the Privacy Policy duplicate content doesn’t count, we’re not trying to rank our Privacy Policy.

In order to create a Privacy Policy I went to the Online Entrepreneur Certification – Getting Started Level 1 training – the Free Training Series here on Wealthy Affiliate – Lesson 9 Creating Quality Website Content

If you scroll down you'll find a Privacy Policy that you can copy and paste onto your website.

You will need to change some of the details such as:

• Where it says YOURWEBSITE.com you will put your website address

• Where it says YOUREMAIL@YOURWEBSITE dot com you will put your email address

If you have the All in One SEO Pack installed, scroll down to the bottom of your page and put a tick in the following boxes:

• Robots Meta NOINDEX

• Robots Meta NOFOLLOW

This will ensure that this page won’t get indexed by the search engines.

Click Update

Ok, so I know that was a bit short and sweet today, but I'm going to leave it there until tomorrow. The next part of Jays training is quite extensive on putting content on our Home Page which includes embedding a YouTube video!

So we’re about half way through Part 4 of Jays 4 Part Series
