On the Road Again.
Just like the iconic Willie Nelson song, so goes my life.
The tax man cometh, and bills must be paid. It will be a beautiful day in the (hopefully) not tooo distant future when such financial matters can be addressed soloely by what I have been able to accomplish here online.
But today is not that day.
Those of you already familiar with my profile know that I have spent over 2 decades on the road, having walked (drove?) awat from a career in warefouse/delivery logistics to start over. I swore I would never go back. Technically, I still did not.
So many have joked about needing to take two 6 month vacations, back-to-back. Well, I have done precisely that, plus an additional 3 months, while trying to sort out how to get my work-at-home life going. Utilizing savings, investments, a source of passive income already in place, and the aid of a couple generous benefactors, I was able to make a real GO at it, and I feel I have learned and accomplished a lot.
WA came into this about 8-9 months in (after doubting it for 4), but then got put on the back burner due to some late-2017 personal crises (all now resolved, for good or ill). Once I got into high gear here, things really started to come together.
Unfortunately, the financial well ran dry before I could see matters to their zenith, and I have been forced to look back to the rat race once again to make ends meet. This time, however, i am calling the shots a little more: I am still my own boss (an independent contractor), and I still get to help people while earning a very decent living wage (by contract for roadside assistance -- aiding stranded motorists with battery jumps, tire changes, fuel deliveries, and opening locked doors).
The downside is the brutal schedule: 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
My burn-out syndrome is SCREAMING!
Soon I will be able to manage the schedule a little more to my liking. I have every intention of returning to my activities and getting back to more learning/blogging/marketing. I will keep my premium status and work from my laptop in my car (like now) until I can get regular time off. Just like here, this is all about building a business, so I have to follow the money and put myself into it 110 percent until things level off/ succeed.
But in the meantime, my friends, I will have to fade from the foreground and let cobwebs collect on my sites. I know I can revive them (www.tuffduds.com & www.thecriticscritic.net ); I've done so in the past, more than once, so I know I can do it again.
I look forward to reading your witty, warm, enjoyable prose once more -- preferably sooner than later.
To paraphrase a certain corn-cob pipe smoking WW II general:
Old road warriors never die... they just drive away.
To quote the same general more directly: "I shall return."
Yet, for now, that's where you can find me:
On the road again...

That's a big 10-4! (Does anyone still say that, or am I channeling too much Jerry Reed from the SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT movies?) Haha
Thanx -- and this shall serve as evidence that I still lurk the slightly-more shadowed halls of the internet (courtesy of the net neutrality stuff).
Appreciate the reach-out!
Thanx for reading and the kind words! This is why I hang in there with WA -- the help from good folks like yourself!
Hello. Nice to meet you. I enjoyed reading your post. I'm fairly new to WA and haven't met you before. Best wishes on your "road trip" and will look forward to your return to WA when you can. Carol
Welcome aboard and thank you!
As you can see, I will still pop in from time to time. Got someone else new on the road today, so I should have some more free time for WA soon.
Earned yourself a follow, my new friend!

The schedule is far more brutal than the work. Thank you so much for reaching out even though I know you're hurting.
