Quick Yoast hacks - make your site appear the most up to date
Couple of ways to increase CTR ( click through rate ) especially for sites which have time sensitive information - deals, offers etc
Something you might not realise . . .
You can ensure that your meta title and description appear always up to date by using %%currentyear%% and/ or %%currentmonth %% or %%currentdate%%
For example if your page title is currently:
Best pressure cooker deals
Change it in Yoast to :
Best pressure cooker deals - Updated %%currentmonth %% %%currentyear%%
Which results in a visitor to Google SERPs seeing;
Best pressure cooker deals - Updated June 2017
It won't directly help you rank higher but will help click through rate as your title and description will automatically show the current month and date when people are searching. Now and in the future.
Can also use it in Yoast descriptions. For example, if you start your meta description with :
Updated: %%currentdate%% < current description text here >
then a visitor today will see:
Updated: 2 June 2017 < current description text here >
When you see that you automatically think that you are reading something brand new and which therefore must be more up to date than something written a year ago or without any date

Ian, if I understand correctly, by adding this, you have spent 20 characters already, so less is left for meta description. But it seems it goes to the title, so the same problem, in fact even worse because in the title you have even less space than in meta description. Is it worth doing?
If you use star rating system, its space is also deducted from the meta description, so not much is left to say something.
If this works with Yoast, it should be possible for AIO as well. Can you suggest something?
Brilliant thanks Ian - great advice.
Cheers Alisa
