Here is something that gets me upset!
Now my wife is a recent amputee and is still trying to get used to wearing a new leg! In addition to that, her other leg (her left) only has about 30% usage. So needless to say, when we go out shopping or go to a restaurant we always look for a handicapped parking spot. Most times we are able to find one, however, there are some times when we can NOT find a handicapped spot and if that is the case, and someone is parked in a spot without a handicapped license plate or placard, please excuse me, that that get me upset! Where is the consideration for people who have disabilities? Do you know how often that takes place, well let me tell you, quite often. Think about this the next time you walk through a parking lot and look for the handicapped plates, you will see many! Or look at the people getting in and out of a vehicle, and they walk better than me!!!! Where is the handicap????? I would love to wait for someone, with my wife in a wheelchair, when someone comes to their vehicle WITHOUTthe handicapped information. What might I say, well let me tell you, my wife would have lots to say!!!!!!! Have consideration, you lazy people!!!
Do you know how difficult things are for people that need to use a wheelchair or scooter? We need to put the chair or scooter in the trunk of a car and place the seat and battery on the backseat of the car. And when I need to put it all together, I need some extra space. If I can't find a handicapped spot, I need to park away from other vehicles which can be a considerable distance from the desired location. Guess what happens then......I will get vehicles parked on either side of my car making it almost impossible to my wife in our car, so why do people have to park so close in the middle of a parking lot????? So in closing, the ADA came up with these laws to help the handicap, please observe them. Thanks for reading and remember, look the next time you go shopping and you will understand.

i agree wth you on that i notice alot of times that people just dont seem to care i have a couple friends that need those spots and i get upset when i see people using handycap spoys when they dont need to
Sympathy and observing rule of law are two different things.Instaed awareness about our duties to handicapped have to be highlighted. It has been observed that people are lax in every society. You are requested to create a blog underlining our duties towards the handicapped. Tks.
Hi I agree with you, I get mad when I see some selfish person taking a handicap park, when caught they should be landed with a heavy fine
I totally understand that one. My dad was paralyzed from the chest down, and people parked in the handicapped spots all the time. It's for those who do it, continually, get caught, will have a nice heft fine to pay.
I sympathize with you but I do understand- i described the good days but there are many times when my wife can't manage to even get up let alone walk. I also have a brother that has one leg missing and limited use of the other. I too see people using the HC spaces that don't seem to need them but I give them the benefit of doubt as I don't know what their situation is and I keep a wheelchair in the car for times when its necessary.
I can sympathize with you on this. I have a placard for one of my vehicles, not for me, but for my women. She can't walk (or better said, she can walk very limited only with assistance) because of her stroke. We keep a wheel chair in the trunk. I don't usually grab the handicapped spots even thought we are entitled. I can get the chair and put her in and push her what ever distance needed. The placard is there for us to use if we wish.
I know people that choose to get a placard even when they have minor difficulties, ones that don't limit their mobility much at all. They tell me "us your handicapped sticker". I tell them it's not necessary in that given situation. I would never use the card when I'm alone. That's ridiculous!
Another thing about what you said, There is sometimes just not enough space between parked cars. Sometimes the handicapped spots are the same size, usually the spots are put on the end to allow room on one side of the car. If I have to get my women out of the car and directly into the wheelchair, I need some room to open the car door wide enough to fit the wheelchair. I've taken regular spots and have come back to find I'm boxed in. So I have to move the car out of the spot, just to have room.
I put in a quick call to the police when I see a car without disabled license plate or placard. The fines usually deter a second offence. I you have the time, you can park behind the car and wait for the police. If the owner exits, and complains, kindly let them know that they are welcome to call the police. Do not be confrontational or angry, if the law is on your side then they will humiliate the offenders!!
I actually see this often unfortunately from both young and spritely ones and older spritely ones! And usually the disabled have to leave ID or a card on the dashboard of their car to prove that they are entitled to park there however I very rarely see this because most people parking there are not disabled! Some are but many are not! In fact I feel really sorry for those including you and your wife that have to put up with this sort of inconsiderate behaviours. Here in NZ we have had this problem shown on the news a lot. But some people just don't care! Thank you for your post!
I agree with most of what you say but things are not always what they seem. For example if you were to see my wife getting out of our handicap tagged car you would probably wonder why the tag. Fact is she can walk fine for about the first 100 steps which usually is enough to make it from a HC space into a store or restaurant but any further and her legs collapse. After a few minutes rest she can go another 100 steps. If you were there to see only the first 100 you would probably make an uncalled for comment and I would tell you to stuff it where the sun don't shine. (:O)
Forgive me kws, bur my wife can't walk 10 steps, sorry you have no idea of her condition.

I am 100% with you on this one. It makes me crazy when I see someone parked in a handicapped spot when they have no tag and clearly are not handicapped. That is just completely inconsiderate of other people.
