Trying to Understand WA
Ok here I go,
I have came here to WA to build a successful web site. with is on its way, but I have gotten caught up in the Ranking deal and it seems to me that it takes a lot of time doing other thing than just building my site to keep climbing the ranks.
I guess I do not totally understand how it work or what the purpose of it is.
I also guess that I do not understand having follower and being followed. I thought that you build up a following to help you to get your business up and running. Being able to call on them for help in any way you need them. Just don't step out of the guidelines.
Yes there are guideline, which I must have missed in the earlier lessons. Don't worry if you cross them someone will let you know. How know I may be doing it again with this. there just seems to be thing that you have to figure out for yourself , wait till you get to that lesson, or find someone to give you the answer.
I have got useful help from some of the people that are in my friends network. Others just seem to be numbers on a tally. I have found a couple that I communicate with and feel that I am forming somewhat of a pen pal friendship with. Maybe I need to focus on trying to be more social, but that isn't what I am here for.
Also at this time I am not here to promote WA. I guess after I have my site up and running and can prove that this is not a waste of time and money, I will build another site for that purpose but in the meantime I need to be able to learn all I can about building a site and all the rules I need to follow to survive here.
It may not help that this is the first real time that I have used a computer, and don't understand a lot about have to use one or protocol for the use of it. I am learning and in the same way I have learned all my life, in the school of hard knocks.
There have been a few thing on here that have annoyed me. These I came or have overlooked for the sake of learning. SO if you can guide me in the right direction on ranking and the proper protocol for WA, please do so while I am still here.

I must admit I had a few worries about my url but I think the main point is, do not advertise your wares in the WA community, leave it for your website and social media. When asking for feedback and advice you do, of course, have to give your url and others have to give theirs. Generally it's spam that's not cool on the WA site. Going yearly is just advice from Kyle and he won't hold it against you if you don't. However, it is good advice because, if you plan to stay for a year, it's definitely much cheaper! Don't worry about your ranking just do what you have to do, to learn all you have to learn, that's what you're paying for. Ches
Thanks Ches, I am finally understanding spam. But I would like to be in the top 200 , it is something I have been working at for some time and hate to give up on anything that I start. I just hate to quit.
Well it seems to me you've been climbing the ranks steadily since you joined back in August. Just keep doing what you're doing and I'm sure you will reach your 200 goal in no time. Good luck, Ches

You dont have to worry about gaining 'followers' or increasing your 'rank' here in Wealthy Affiliate, that ultimately does not serve a big purpose and won't ever help you grow you business.
With that being said, you don't want to go posting links to your URL throughout Wealthy Affiliate in an attempt to draw visitors to your website, as that is considered spam, which is not okay.
Now obviously you don't have to be afraid to post your website to things such as facebook, and Twitter, but as a general rule, you should only post it here if you are asking for feedback, comments, or need somebody to take a look at it because you are experiencing a problem.
Just work your way through the training, do not worry about your rank and followers at Wealthy Affiliate, and try to build your website more than anything else.
Will I am at lesson 5 of course 5 and it wants me to go yearly if I don't will that lesson show credit as having done it?
Just click the check box so that it will allow you to go to the next lesson, it cant force you to go yearly.
But I was warned on how I was trying to use my network to build traffic, so now I am almost afraid to post my url anywhere.
Focus on your website, go through the trainings, ask for help when needed. Plus you can get comments on your website if you request it from your Site Rubix on the top left of your WA page.
Hi. I see you are having some trouble getting a direct answer to this question, so how about I tell you the rule that I go by, and maybe it will help you.
Your website URL should only be posted on your WA Profile page, in the 'Websites by Hillbilly2u' section.
It is best not to post your website in blogs or questions here at Wealthy Affiliate, unless you are asking for help.
Also, there are 5 courses in the Getting Started: Online Entrepreneur Certification, with 10 lessons in each, for a grand total of 50 lessons.
There are a total of 70 lessons in the Affiliate Bootcamp course, but some of them are repeats from the Getting Started course.
I hope that cleared some things up for you. I'm glad that you spoke up and asked the community for help, that is what we are here for after all! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Good day hillbilly2u its is good that you have step out and are trying something new. Someone once said to me never stop learning because learning never stops so don't feel stuck just take it one step at a time that's apart of the learning process.I have had to stop and ask question many times some times reading the same lesson over and over again or watching the same video over and over again just to understand so you are not alone the community is there and the support team is there also to help you.Were cheering for you every MILE starts with the first step before you know it you are gaining ground and your website will be up and running.So do not look at things as they are but look at things how they can be.Start with the end in mind get a MENTAL PICTURE of yourself succeeding and keep that picture before you. You can do Gods willing we will make it see you at the top.
