Somewhat Overwhelmed

I have been here at WA for a little over a week. I must admit, I am feeling somewhat overwhelmed. Maybe I am just trying to do too much at one time? I am stuck on setting up my websites. I start one direction and then think, umm, maybe I should go another way..

Here are my choices, I can either set up my website using pictures provided by the distributer ( this would mean building the ecommerce from scratch) or I can utilize their web catalogs or I can use an extremely generic website that they provide... I would prefer to build the site with the pictures, however, right now I only have full use of my right arm/hand due to shoulder surgery. So needless to say, my progress is slow. So should I start out with the less attractive, more generic site? I don't really want to wait to get my site up. I have at least 3 weeks until my left arm/hand will be functional. I am overwhelmed and frustrated...

Any suggestions, input will be greatly appreciated.

Pls take care, your arm is your priority. I understand your overwhelming feeling, we all have gone through that when we started, or at least most of us have. Take it easy, think about what you really want to achieve with your website, then write them all in one sheet. You will experiences a few bumps along the way, but a light bulb will suddenly appear in your head, and everything else will fall into its proper place.

Sorry about your arm, I know how hard it is to work when our body is not functioning the way we want it to be. I hope you feel better soon. I suggest you build your website the way you really would like to be. I suggest you don't settle for something that you just want to put up, this is your business, so please make it represent you. I know what it's like to want get something done, but can't because other obstacles come up, but as long as you can put a little a day is big. So please don't rush it, just do what you can. Wish you much success!

A big THANK YOU to everyone! I get it now that I've read it from everyone...slow down, focus, and follow the training..CHECK! :)

Aw I hope your arm is able to heal fast! Hmm.. I agree with the others here. Don't let yourself get caught up on the cosmetics of the site, just follow along with the training and focus on the content. Remember your site isn't just about selling it's about helping people, and your content will do that. I changed my website theme more times than I can count in the beginning, and honestly wasted way too much valuable time with it! You want it to look nice, obviously, but don't let worrying how it looks stall your progress as it can always be changed... your website will evolve over time.

I have been with WA a couple of weeks and I feel your "overwhelm frustration pain". I'm anxious to get things moving which doesn't seem to be going quite fast enough. I had a little self talk with myself about analysis paralysis. Now I'm just going with the order of lesson courses and completing the tasks. I can always go back and refine as I learn more and get feedback from our WA community. I imagine we will be improving upon our sites for months to come... It's a great feeling just finally getting my site set up so I can focus on high quality content.

Another aspect about WA that was overwhelming me was all the notifications, feeling the need to read and respond to all of this in addition to working on my site. I don't want to turn off the notifications because I get some vital information often. So I set aside an hour for notifications reading and replies.

Do what you can to not allow yourself to become over stressed which can sometimes lead to discouragement. Remember we're on a journey not a marathon :) Christine

HI, I have been there and understand lol, I think we were all in that boat when we first started. Don't worry so much about the "look" of the site, I think that changes and develops as you go through the lessons, I would concentrate on the lessons, doing the tasks .... and CONTENT first, then worry about the cosmetic things other wise you will stay kind of stuck playing around with the little details :-) Content is King as they :-) and you will find as your site grows you might want to change the whole theme, ( I did 3-4 times already) so dont stress on that. Hope his helps,

Hello there, I am sorry to hear that you are feeling overwhelmed. WA will do that. I think all of us have felt that at some points and continue to feel that from time to time. I recommend to continue with the training courses, follow them and build your content as you go like the courses suggest.
Your website will take on a life of its own and you will continue to make changes, add content and find better ways to do things as you progress through WA and learn more. I've changed themes a few times myself, you will find one that appeals to you. The important thing is direction, keep moving forward, do a little bit everyday and if it gets a bit overwhelming just take a break for a minute, gather your thoughts, relax and let the solution show up organically.
I've discovered here that when I try too hard I get in my own way but when I slow down take it step by step follow courses and classrooms I move ahead more swiftly.
I'm on this chosen path for the long haul and now realize it is a marathon not a sprint. Hope this helps some.
