WHY Do People Do This? How Can They Even Sleep at Night?

This is a rant, and I'm sorry, but I have to get this out there. It upsets me to the core, and I guess I really need to know that this is not the way things are headed.

Going about my own business today, researching, looking at how other similar blogs are set up, etc. I stumbled upon a few pretty disturbing blogs. It wasn't just one, either, or I wouldn't be writing this.

The blogs themselves weren't bad. The owners of the blogs, or whoever answers their comments, are horrible!!! I never understood heartless people. But that's just who I am, I guess. Maybe it is just the way I was raised, who knows. But If you don't like to help people then why in the world would you make a blog that makes people think you care?? Like a health blog. Wouldn't it be better to just turn commenting OFF than to insult people, and make them hurt even worse?

I mean, seriously!! I have a dog niche. I research the crap out of what I write so that I don't give any false info whatsoever. And, if need be, if I have to take a guess at something, I very clearly state that I am not sure about that certain thing. After all, people are people, right? We don't know everything.

I would hope (and yes, I am assuming) that 99% of the people here are genuine. In the past year, we have had a few unmentionables, but you'll have that anywhere. But that's just it - WA was built on a dream. It was built to HELP people to realize their dreams. When we have a question, we are answered by honest people who want to help.

I am not making this up - two or three of the blogs that I read today weren't that bad. But as soon as I hit the comment section, I started boiling!!! Examples: one person has an older dog that was sick. She commented on the blog, asking for help. The person (disgusting person) who answered her told her 'your dog's old. shes going to die. get over it'. WHAT?????

There were a few other comments that followed along those lines. - 'my dog is sick and I can't afford a vet. how can I help her?' answer: ' why do you even have a dog if you can't afford a vet?' 'its a dog, not a person, just put her down'. Now I don't know who answered those comments, but how can someone do that? Is it just me? Because if it is, I'll never make it in this world. But I know it's not. I did contact two people of those blogs, I'm sure I won't hear anything, but I just had to.

When you make a blog, you're supposed to help others above all else. Right? HELP. Not condescend (sp??), not make someone feel worse than they already do. Am I wrong??

The world is full of it, I know. And I believe it's getting worse. But I refuse to do it. I refuse to be heartless, it's just not in my blood. I always said I'd never make a good salesperson. I can't hold anything back, even if it costs me a sale. If I know something's not right, I'm not going to just ignore the fact and leave the potentail buyer sorry that they bought it.

Again, sorry for the rant, but I need someone to tell me that these people are few, and that this is not what IM is becoming. People prey on the weak, making it like they have this product that will help "whatever the problem is". They 'guarantee' it, and take the money and run, selling snake oil.

The scammers are getting great at what they do. How in the hell can people sleep??

I am in no way going to quit what I'm doing. If I had to stoop to that level, then I won't get anywhere at all, I guess. BUT.. I will continue to do what I'm doing, and I WILL keep heart that there is more good than not.

How do you feel about this? Do you know people who can actually do this to people? I mean, I'm asking for it, tell me if you are one of those people who can do it. But please also tell me HOW you can numb yourself enough TO do it. I just can't wrap my head around it.
