Stupid Is As Stupid Does
I have to tell you, on a day to day basis I don't watch much television. they're many, many days I don't watch it at all. And guess what? I am far more productive on a daily basis; I accomplish so much more because I've made a decision not to waste time on unproductive activities.
I have no problem with watching a good movie or a documentary from time to time as a distraction. You need to take a break from time to time, step away from the business you're either running or trying to build, and just chill.
There is one movie that I watched years ago that still sticks with me to this day. Forrest Gump.
Why Forrest Gump? It's because of one line that should live in imortallity:
"Stupid is as stupid does".
I truly believe most people have no clue what Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) meant when he said those words.
Here's the point: Forrest Gump was saying that stupidity does not origionate from a person's appearance. Stupidity is absolutely a matter of deeds, not of looks. What it comes down to is this: judge people by what they do, not by how they appear.
The above statement is huge. It's our deeds that we all are judged by.
Do we really think about our actions before we make a decision? Do we consider how our actions may affect others? Do we really care? Are we more concerned about the outward appearance of an individual rather that what they are on the inside?
The decision-making skills of people today is downright frightening. The ability to think in a competent, rational manner has all but disappeared. Indecient behavor is celebrated. Anyone with half a moral compass is denegrated.
Congratulations folks!...The society we've talked about and feared all these years has actually arrived! It's just as Forrest Gump said:
"Stupid is as stupid does!"

Although this message has also stuck with me from this movie, I attach a bit more significance to it. I too have taken it to refer to action, but to repeating stupidity producing actions with proven negative results. Like you, I am trudging the clearest path to achieving my goals. Until this path becomes murky, like Forrest, I'll just treat life like a box of chocolates. After all, you just never know what you'll get.
