Don't install WP 3.8.1 - yet!
I just installed Wordpress 3.8.1 and I'm having loads of problems as it's nothing like the training videos in places. My advice to beginners is stick with the old version as it matches Kyle's training videos. Maybe Kyle will come up with a strategy to help with the transition to the latest release.

The only other thing I know to try is to switch browsers. If your on explorer go to google or vise versa. Thats all I know.
I totally agree with the new version i cannot see under the howdy Patty bar and activate widgets so frustrated!
i think he means that the dashboard looks different than kyles training videos because wordpress has updated since then, though all the general options should still be in the same place to get stuff done, it will just all look a little different
Hi t d, Thanks for your reply. I tried a reboot and the missing bits still aren't there. In Edit Page, I believe there is meant to be a list of options to do with robots etc. under the text editing window. It just isn't there. Also, none of the templates I've tried have tabs/menus visible anywhere when previewing, and no list of pages I've created appears on the left panel in Appearance/Menus - it just says 'no items'. Any more suggestions?

I had no problem with the latest version of wp 3.8.1. For beginners, just stick to the old version first. Once you are seasoned then that's the time you can upgrade to the latest version.
