How I Grew My Following With Twitter In Less Than 2 Weeks

I haven't been active within WA lately, wonder how everyone is doing.. Firstly thanks to all who have left me comments lately even though I wasn't very active here. You guys really rock :)

I thought I should share the important lessons I've learnt in the past two weeks. It has been two crazy weeks but with astounding (non-financial) results.

So I started building my site about one and a half month ago, and I managed to develop a following with Twitter in just the past two weeks, during which I gained 760+ followers thanks to tips by @Kush1000.

If you are thinking of investing in Twitter to promote your site, I recommend using a Twitter account management tool such as Crowdfire or Tweepi. Crowdfire helps you gain large numbers of followers in a short time, while Tweepi lets you follow more targeted users, eg. by language or activity. Twitter is a good choice if you want exposure fast, as it is the best place to follow strangers, and many of them in a short time.

But the number of Twitter followers doesn't signify my following. By "following", I meant gaining the respect and trust of people who would watch you closely. This is not easy and it requires work to earn the trust of, well, strangers.

So I set up an auto message asking everyone who follows me to check out my website, follow my FB page blah blah, but most importantly to express their interest if they want to be featured on my site. After it's set up, I would read every reply and message to sieve through the people who are genuinely interested in appearing on my site.

I have managed to publish two featured posts so far, and there will be many more to come. The benefits of doing this are: first it takes much less time to finish a post (I took 1 hour compared to the normal 3 or 4), and second it will get shared instantly by the people who have been featured.

Of course it has its drawbacks too. Featured posts are essentially collaborations, which can result in delays or disagreement. To get people interested in submitting a post for your site also requires that you already have substantial content, by which I mean at least 20 well written posts.

But yeah, I feel that the results were superb, especially for a noob like me :). The post on DaVido alone for instance got me 100+ views, 30+ visitors and 10 likes within a day of publishing. It's not a lot, but it would be an uphill task for me normally to get so many views and likes.

I have also made friends and, well, admirers ;)

And the best part about this is these people are very sincere and serious about supporting you.

Having strangers complimenting on my work is something I'm not very used to so yeah, i was really touched ;)

I have also decided to purchase the Premium version of my theme, because it simply looks more professional and authoritative. And I have no regrets so far :)

So yeah, I hope this helps someone generate ideas to develop his/her own following on Twitter.

Have a lovely weekend guys. And thanks for supporting me as always :)

Congrats Ginax,
It is always interesting to see how WA'er are promoting themselves. Keep up the good work!

Thank you!

That's really awesome!

One thing about crowdfire, though:
If you ever have a problem with them you're lost.
Worst customer support ever. Fot some reason my free account did not get upgraded even though the money was sent via paypal.
I contacted them via email and twitter (with proof of my paypal) but never got any answer, besides from automatic answers that my message got received.
I know stopped the monthly payments and am in contact with paypal to solve this problem.

Luckily there are other services that offer the same, but haven't tried another yet.

Hey Moritz, thanks for the heads up. I'm lucky enough to not have experienced anything like that.. You can try using Tweepi. I use it in conjunction with a plugin to help you follow everyone on the same page one by one automatically. Can't remember what it's called. And Tweepi is better in one aspect that it allows you to filter who you want to follow, e.g. English speaking, follow ratio of >50% and active one day ago, etc. It's just a bit slow :P

I think I will try "unfollowers".
They offer the same service but are 2 dollars cheaper. ;)
Will have a look at "Tweepi" too, though.
Thanks.

Nice! Hope it works properly :D
