The Numbers
Are they really just numbers? Do we just use them to make ourselves look better, or worse in some cases? Numbers have always fascinated me and now with the advent of big data surrounding us and everything we do in life it appears at the very least that we just can't get away from the numbers!
Lets's look back just a few weeks when everyone was posting about goals for the year. How many of those goals where connected to numbers? I'm going to lose (x) amount of weight, write (x) amount of posts, create (x) amount of website's. How about, I want to make (x) amount of money this year. I have (X) amount of training sessions to go. I need (x) more referrals to get to Vegas.
This is just in this community! Personally I was thinking I was going to take a short trip for the weekend until I realized it was actually nearly 2187 miles away! Heck, I would never make that Monday morning clock in! Wait, did I just say clock in!
We go though life surrounded by numbers to the point where we don't even realize the extent they impact our lives. Speaking to a very dear friend recently the subject of numbers came up, numbers and age quite frankly. We are all on an express train in this life. If there is a long distance between where I am and you are, who cares! Technology has an incredible way of changing up the numbers on us! Years can be reduced to the simplest of even numbers, 2! Yes 2, me and you! What else really matters? We are all grains in the hour glass here, some of us are going to get through to the other side sooner than the rest of us. While we are here though, there is no reason why we can't close the gap between where we are, and where we would love to be!
For all of us here in this WA community, numbers play a big part in all we do. The training, the credits, the referrals, the posts, the rank, the keywords, what page am I on, how many people in my network? We can go on and on, (yes more numbers), you can't get away from it! But what is important right now?
In my mind, ( ...and I have plenty on my mind, most of which makes me smile every day) it is the next thing on your list and your determination to follow it through to completion! The next training session, your next task, your next comment, what ever it is. Each and every day, there are WA members that painstakingly lay out the steps for us to take in our to advance our own learning process.
Kyle and Carson have assembled this world-class training for each of us to get ahead. The tools we need are all here, and again the NUMBER of resources exceed what any other platform has available to its members...by far! Take a deep breath everyone! Let the numbers work for you and not against you. One foot in front of the other and you will reach your destination, no matter the distance between where you are and where you want to be!
At the end of the day, numbers are important in our lives. People are important in our lives! The people important to me are those that take up residence in my heart! A place that doesn't hold a large amount of space, a number that is small, very small! Find your voice here, find the path that is going to get you to where you want to be. "Many hands make light work!"!

I think the world in general likes numbers because it gives value to things, rank, social rank, success and many other things. The numbers are a benchmark for many of us and as you said very well with all the big data this is not ready to stop.

I do love numbers Gerry, I was never the smartest tool in the box when it came to mathematics but now I find I am more fascinated by them.
I find they can be a huge resource when it comes to 'playing' with them.
I have a post in the wings that I have been sat on, the principle underlying number is 'two' or in essence 'one on one'

Great post. While numbers are important as a way to measure, there are areas in our lives that cannot be measured by numbers. A good example is love. If you have 3 kids, do you love them 33 1/3 equally? Answer is of course not. You love all of them 100% but have to spend time based on their needs and age etc...
That right there was a great post. Almost like I was sitting on the edge of my chair waiting to read the next word. Sometimes I hate numbers but they will never go away. Great post again

I do love numbers too Gerry but have never been very good at math, or at least not as good as my mom who was a math teacher :) I'm better at languages.
But I've always been fascinated by numerology and I'm convinced numbers are very important in our lives.
By the way I was born exactly at midnight between the 15 and 16 October so my mom could chose which day to write down in my birth certificate :)
