Are You Willing to Put in the Work?
At the moment, I have no work. It's not a fun place to be and I strongly dislike it, but I decided that I would start putting the same effort into my own projects as I would with a regular job . . . to an extent.
I find it really difficult to stay focused on one thing all day, so I wrote down my various projects and prioritized them. This priority list lives on my bulletin board and every morning, I set up a Pomodoro app with 30 minute sessions to cover 6 hours in a day. Each hour is dedicated to one priority from my list.
Moving from project to project allows my ADHD brain to stay focused and the Pomodoro method works well to give me little breaks after each 30 minute session.
Now, I haven't worked an 8 hour job for nearly 2 decades. I've had a lot of part time jobs and some of the medical translation jobs I do are upwards of 10 hours at a time. However, those are really active, with new patients every few minutes, so it doesn't feel like 10 hours. Sitting down and putting in the six hours at my desk feels good, but it's a bit challenging.
Also, since I'm working from home, I'm still looking after kids (we homeschool our three sons), managing emails and messages from assorted people, getting meds and/or food for anyone coming by for help, cooking food for the family, baking bread, and taking a moment to play with one of our cats. In short, it's six hours of actual butt in chair time, but it's not the only thing I do in the day.
In just a few days of doing this, I've seen some major improvements. I'm seeing more traffic to my sites, plus my sites are growing rapidly, content-wise. The novel I'm working on is pushing 35k already and will be ready to go by the end of the month. We're getting new clients for our sublimation business, thanks to extra time spent on marketing. In short, putting in the time is definitely making a difference!
Are you willing to put in the time? Of course, not everyone is able to do a full day of work on their sites, but do you maximize the time you do have?

As a business one has to put in the time, being both self-employed and full-time employed I find my online business is a bit difficult to get after. But I am still learning, growing, and moving forward with my plan, just not as fast as I once thought I could do this. But I will never give up, or stop trying.
I admire what you are doing with your husband, such amazing things, I love doing the sound gig with the church, and Christian events in parks and such. May your mission there save, build, and encourage millions.
Giving back to the world enriches the soul, mind, and body.
This is not my favorite Dr. Suess Quote, but it is wonderful.
My fav is.
You have a Brain in your Head, And feet in your shoes!

I love that Dr. Seuss quote! I read that book to my boys frequently. Thanks for the encouragement!
If you are ever in San Francisco California, there is a Dr. Suess art museum not far from Union Square. I have never seen them open, but one can see most of the art through the window. It is located about 5 blocks away from Chinatown, Dragon Gate. Another must-visit area and a great souvenir shopping area.
I do all the time, Genesis! I have been self-employed as a locksmith for 32 years already! I know exactly where you are coming from. Keep succeeding!
Jeff
Yes, indeed, Genesis! I've been there, done that, and I've got the T-Shirt and Hat!
