Hi,

hi guys, I just cancelled my premium membership because I can no longer afford the monthly fee. However, I can no longer access my website.. I purchased my domain from GoDaddy so I set the DNS back to default after I have cancelled from WA. However, now my website is no longer working. I tried setting the DNS back to WA's but still it won't work. Please help me

I think you have 30 days to transfer your sites.

Hi Griselda - definitely would hate to see you leave! However, FYI, your domain is yours, but if you are planning on cancelling your premium membership, make sure to back up your files and/or move your website to a new host server prior to canceling. You would then log on and edit your website from your new host server. So from your business perspective, it will be business as usual. What you will lose though is the valuable option to post questions or get assistance from the WA community since I believe you aren't able to comment or post questions on the free membership. Also, I believe the free membership also limits which training you have access to, i.e., no access for Level 2 onwards. Fingers crossed you'll find a way to stay with us :)

Thanks for the info. When you say move your website to a new host, what specifically do you mean? Can you give me any examples of websites? And hopefully I won't cancel, but if it doesn't go well after a couple months at $50 each, that can add up pretty quick. I would hate to lose all the support, as I so TOTALLY need it!

iPage and HostGator are two good hosting companies.

Thanks! I was just looking and saw those as well on line. They do run much cheaper, but I see that the majority of them have horrible reviews! So here's to thinking positive and hoping I don't need to cancel! ;)

To simplify, hosting simply means providing storage for your files and getting them onto the internet for the world to see. Back in the day, I used to literally create all my pages and content on my computer, then when I was happy, upload all my files and all the images and pdfs up to a "host" server and they would be responsible for configuring so that my page shows up on the internet. Monthly fees vary but yes, they would be cheaper than WA, because all they are providing is hosting. The support would also be limited to technical support, and not the type of support you get here, and definitely no training.

If you think cancelling will be a possibility, then definitely start looking into alternative hosting. For me, aside from all the bells and whistles, I want to make sure they have been in business for at least 10 years, they have a really good help desk and support your files (although I'm sure most would support wordpress blogs by now). My all time recommendation would be a company called www.esosoft.com. They used to be located in Burbank and I could pick up the phone for help and they were quick to respond. They were invaluable for a newbie like me trying to start up a shopping site.

But, also, consider heavily promoting WA as an affiliate in order to generate some income. If you try to "give away" free websites on a regular basis, the chances of at least one converting to premium is high. That would at least help pay for a portion of your membership here. Here's an idea - get small leaflets or business cards printed up giving away free websites. Make sure to include your referral link and leave them everywhere - local hairdresser, fav restaurant, fav coffee shop, on your desk at work... :)

Good luck!

Thanks for all of that info. IT was very helpful and will definitely take all those things into consideration.

Hi,

If i did cancel though and stayed with free membership do i still get hosting here at WA for ONE website as i thought that was included with the free membership? Or is that just for a sub domain?

For example i have a website www.waystolearnpiano.com
Can i still host this single website through WA on a free membership?

You have 30 days to transfer your website to another host server and you would lose access to everything. I believe the domain will still be yours because it is registered to you, but that is all after the 30 days.

So I bought my domain through wealthy affiliate. If I cancel the membership how would I pay for my domain yearly domain?

I was wondering if I am going down the right path with this. My website is on reading help for kids and I have a drop down menu with 5 sub headings (5 areas of reading). On each of

Got some great answers already, and agree with adding the links in the separate pages. You could do a more in-depth review of the products you are referring to and then link to it within your article as another option.

Hi Griselda - great progress on your website! I think I know what you mean about different affiliate products on each page, with the challenge being that if you put one affiliate banner on the sidebar, it will show up on all pages. My suggestion for doing different affiliate products would simply be to incorporate into the main write up, either as an image/banner, or as a text link to make the text flow naturally, or both. For variety, I've seen some clever blogs that creates a hyperlink for a sentence or phrase within a paragraph (with the text not necessarily being the name of the product, if that makes sense), and one can't help but click on it because they see it's a link. For example, where you say, "assess your child’s reading fluency " you can highlight that entire phrase and create an affiliate link to an online fluency test (if there was such a thing). I find when you recommend products in this way, it seems more credible and doesn't feel like you're pushing a particular product or overdoing it on the ads.

Similarly, you can do a bullet list of recommendations at the end of your post.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your input louellen! I also think that putting them in as I am writing definitely makes more sense. I like the idea with the reading fluency test ( and there definitely is such a thing) ;)

In this case it seems like it would be a good idea to have links on each page.

Haha...I clicked and was waiting for the pages to change and finally figured out the cute baby doesn't move...LOL! I would definitely add links to all five. They are separate topics...yes!

So continue with my original idea then? Which is....under each of the 5 areas talk about each one and then recommend products for each with one with affiliate links. I think this just works better with my particular case, then the idea of just one page for product reviews.

Oh yeah...there are 5 separate ideas/thoughts...ABSOLUTELY, I would separate the items...you want it easy for people to make decisions and purchase...right?! Easy and click!

Let me see...
